Respect, so far I am respecting our new lady Gen Mgr. she is intelligent, understands how to deal with people, and the biggest thing that has impressed me with her is unlike the Chinese plant manager she knows what she is talking about, she actually understand manufacturing, she is not just blowing smoke like our plant mgr. however she really needs to watch her back because no doubt the plant mgr from lead china will be sticking knives in her back out of fear that she will out shine him, which isn’t that hard to do.
She also has a track record of success, unlike the list of failures that the china boy carries with him.
From the failures in creating a sucessful team oreiented PE dept, to the total failure with 08 accord, nothing but a long list of failures. If we are truly going to turn the corner here and become productive and make a quality part for our customer, the chinese plant mgr needs to be replaced with someone who actually have the skills and mentality to lead this plant and so far his only skills is what he does on his knees and this is saying it nicely. why was the chinese guy promoted to Assistant Plant Manager with no record of success? As the manager of PE he created a revolving door with good people leaving for other companies and his failure to create a quality engineering team which can be seen in the accord launch as well as other engineering activities plant wide clearly shows he has zero leadership capabilities that would make one believe he could run the whole plant when he failed running one department.
I also see we are going to try and rebuild our defunked PE dept.Once again my concern is the same people who causes the mass failure in PE are the guys interviewing and choosing the candidates, again if we are to be successful at building a PE dept. should not someone who has leadership skills and manufacturing knowledge chose the staff? If the leadership in the PE dept. was unable to be successful at any level shouldn’t they be replaced with someone with the skill set that will make this dept a success? The Chinese manager still hasn't a clue about what we do here but my biggest disappointment be doesn’t really care and has never taken ownership of his failures as a mgr. of engineering and the accountability for the loss of millions of dollars because he failed to ensure his engineers work was the cause for mass failure with the accord launches. It is clear he doesn't know what he is doing.
Work Environment we still have a very long way to go to have a healthy work environment and as long as the people whom have cause Showa to be one of the worst places to work in the world, I highly doubt it will change any time soon unless we send the Chinese plant mgr packing and replace him with someone with a good level of intelligent with excellent people skills, then and only then will we begin to actual change the culture here to that with a team atmosphere instead of a place of back stabbers and guy like our plant mgr and lives to lie!
Co worker competence some are actually very intelligent just tired of this unacceptable culture that has existed here for 3 yrs.
Career growth it depends on if the boy from china and how well you kiss up to him because if he should fear you, he will do anything and everything to discredit you to upper management, he is insecure because of his own lack of basic manufacturing understanding and inabilities as a leader and engineer.He played his games, politics, back-stabbing - whatever you wanna call it - but I hear his time clock is ticking. The Honda management thinks he is a despicable cockroach and they cannot stand his presence.
Work life balance all work with no hope for life.
Job security we do have a revolving door here.
Our Chinese Plant mgr is a very deceptive person and really lack leadership and people skills and everyone knows he has poor knowledge in manufacturing all you have to do is dig deep in a conversation with him and you will see for yourself.
If you pick a subject in manufacturing, and it could be any subject and have a conversation with the lady Mfg. Mgr. and then have the same conversation with our plant mgr. it will be clear to you she knows what she is talking about and the boy from china doesn’t and is full of bull!
