Europe outsourcing to the US

I read an interesting article recently about some guys from Pfizer who got layed off when their jobs were outsourced. They ended up starting their own business/lab. By the time they got the lab setup and running, they found that most companies didn't want to use them. They were too expensive. Many of their clients were now outsourcing their R&D work overseas, sacrificing quality for price.

Then something happened that changed their business model. One of the founders attended a seminar in France. He found that many European companies were looking to outsource some early-stage lab work. They looked at the US as cheaper than the Euro market for lab work, and since the quality was much better than most overseas (India/China) outsourcing labs, they wanted to do business with his company!

So long story short, the US may soon find its place among this world of offshoring and global competition. We just need to keep doing quality at a reasonable rate, and then find the company that will appreciate us.
