I went through this crap last year. Here's my advice: Hang in there and start cutting back and saving money right away. Start networking and talking to people you know, letting them know you will need a job. Don't be afraid to get out there long before the 3 months are up. Get angry about it, but try not to be bitter or self-defeating, because it only hurts you. It's your life, make lemonade out of the lemons.

Thanks--Yeah, I've got a network and am already sending out resumes, so I'm fairly confident that I'll get something by the end of the summer. What sucks about this though is that every time you get cut, other interviewers accuse you of "job-hopping." I was really hoping to hold onto this job a few years so I wouldn't be hopping, but who knows.

Get ready for a bunch of things to break too. That always happens...just when you think things are crappy or stressfullthings around you start breaking down...water heaters, cars, dishwashers...I don't know why that is, but when it rains, it pours. Slave--HAHA, HILARIOUS!! This week our bathroom sink pipe did break, on Monday (like completely broke--water all over the floor so we can't use it). Plumber is fixing that currently. On Tuesday, I got laid off. What a coinkidink.

Cynic, it is not just you. I was accused of job hopping 3 interviews ago. Just blow it off, they may be inexperienced managers who are not used to seeing real experienced people with talent. They didn't know what they had.

Recommendation: Play Sinatra's "That's Life" really loud in your car when shiz like this happens. It helps me laugh it off. But if you tell anyone I own Sinatra I'll deny it. (_._)

Cynic - Because somehow (just a guess here) I don't think my buddies would be able restrain themselves from roasting me if they saw I had a Sinatra cd in my disc changer. Do I care what they think? Uh, probably could lie and say no, but then I'd be a lying liar. ;-P But let the record show that it doesn't stop me from playing it in the car.
