The eyes say it all.

I worked for an engineering firm, and one day after six months, my boss called me into his office for a talk. He told me that the engineers (men) were uncomfortable because I always looked them in the eyes when I talked to them, and could I please quit doing that. In other words as a woman the guys felt threatened by me. Darned if I was going to stare at the floor every time I talked to an engineer. That gave me an inkling of the future, I found another job and moved on.

Engineers are a squirlly bunch to begin with so you are probably better off. What surprises me is the fact that they actually spoke up about it. Seems like a petty thing to complain about. Good job getting out of there.
