I used to work as a PC tech for a company over a decade ago and one of my jobs was to install the network and set all the computers on the network.

One day, I had to work in the office of the finance manager who was known to be an obnoxious jerk. He had gone through a horrible divorce which led to his behavior but it was tolerated because the man was brilliant. He had one glass eye and wore glasses which gave him this sort of spooky look when he stared at you.

Well, I was installing the cable in his office under his desk and he was on the phone making rather crude remarks about the position I was in while laughing to his friend at corporate. True, I probably could have brought him up on harrasement charges but knowing the company I worked at it would have been swept under the rug. I was being assisted by an older gentlemen from our maintenance department who was feeding the cable from the ceiling and he could tell I was getting ticked and he whispered to me "Hang in there bud, I'll buy you a coke when we are done!" (He was very kind).

So, we finally finish up and my maintenance buddy climbs down to pack his ladder and I verify connectivity and set Mr. Managers password for him. He hangs up and says "Ok Computer Puke.. (his 'cute' name for me) what's my password?"

I tell him, I set this up just for you, I want you to write this down.

He gets out a pen and a post it.

Me: The password is "AS"
Manager: "AS"

Me: "SHO"
Manager: "SHO"

Me: "LE"
Manager: "LE"

He then says, "Why can't you guys come up with decent
pasSSSS!!!"

He whips his glasses off and then holds the paper right up to his good eye with it WIDE open. He then starts shaking and drops the arm with the paper and now both eyes shut and he starts laughing loudly with tears streaming down his face.

The maintenance guy falls against the wall holding his ribs yelling "Oh my durn ribs, Oh he whipped them glasses off! Oh muh ribs! Bud that was funny!"

For the longest time, the manager used that story to lighten up meetings and we got along real well after that incident.

The maintenance guy also enjoyed telling the story to his friends whenever the managers name came up.

The manager kept that little post-it note on his wall for the entire time I was there.

THAT'S GREAT!!! Sooooo good to hear people talking about taking work lightly. Where I work, you'd swear it was life or death. It's not a hospital or freaking NORAD for god's sakes...it's an OFFICE. I want to do stuff like you just described ALL THE TIME. You just inspired me to DO more of it. =)
