Considering my "underemployment" regarding my skills and education where I work, as well as that there are times of peaks and lows, I sometimes get bored. And to me, the saying that "idle hands ..." (hehehehe!!!)
Well many times during the lows I read leadership, management, resume, and job-hunting books as well as surf the Internet. Well I downloaded a few wav files (for my intertainment) such as "Smiling Faces" (in reference to my work place), Mission Impossible, Tequila (think PeeWee) and other "select tunes" and "sounds."
Well one of those "tunes" is a 'snoring' sound. For the past few weeks I had been playing the 'snore' in a low-level loop when things get slow. I was trying to get my Supervisor to come down to our cube area (he's not that far and has very sharp hearing (if I have any issues he comes running down to my cube).
Well I couldn't get hime to come over when it was quite and playing the 'snore.' I would play it at different levels ... he wouldn't comes over!!! ARRRGGGG!!!!
So I gave up!!! I was playing the 'snore' for about 1/2 an hour - no response! He was wandering areound a little bit but avoided my area! So I called him over! "Hey, come here and listen to THIS!!! Can you believe THIS?!?!?"
He slowly walked over like he would be disturbing one of us (there are just three of us - sometimes four when the Intern comes in) sleeping. When he got closer and saw that there wasn't anyone "sleeping" he realized that the whole time he was thinking someone was sleeping. He realized that he was had! He stated that he thought that one of us had a "hard night" and was really wiped out. But he loved it!
