I had to write a new post, this is so unbelievable. You guys know how my Bimbo Manager has been messing with me, trying to tear me down one way or another. She violated my doctor's restrictions, sent me to the emergency room, then shadowed me like a hawk, waiting for me to have a breakdown. She called me in her office today, to give me the third degree on why my work was not "finished", and wanted an actual minute by minute accounting of how long every task would take. Of course, the rest of my co-workers do not get this treatment, and have piles of stuff all over their desks, but she does not say a word to them. (Not yet...their time will come.)
She asked one of my co-workers how long a certain task would take, then sent me an email, telling me I had to finish it in half that time. GOD, what a twit! Anyway, as I am finishing my work, and double checking what I had done so far, I noticed that something in my database did not look correct. As a matter of fact, it did not even look like my work at all! I went back to my saved documents on the company's database, under my I.D., which is the way I was told to save them. Lo and behold, at about the same time that the errors appeared, someone else had accessed my saved filed, and then EDITED them. Yes, you guessed it. That idiot of a BIMBO MANAGER changed my documents to make it look like I had entered infromation incorrectly into a database. I am sure that she is just waiting to call me on it...I made copies of all the evidence. I don't want to just confront her personally, that is useless. I have tried several times to make the company aware of her previous efforts at lies and sabotage, but they blow it off. I think I should try a different tactic this time. Should I just wait for her to "confront" me with this supposed proof of my incompetence, and then throw it in her face??? Also, she may have already taken it to the higher-ups, as evidence to them that I am the problem-and I don't know who can be trusted, if anyone. I don't know how many of them are in actual league with her, either. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
labtech(09/05/2006)
Definitely, document it and take it to the lawyer. She's really awful, but somehow, given what you have written about her in the past, I'm not surprised. From my own experience, the "golden favorites" can do no wrong, their mistakes are covered up....but I bet yours (or what she claims to be yours) won't be. She's trying to get rid of you.
SouthernProgrammer(09/06/2006)
Keep the evidence, get screen shots to show how you know she changed files and hang in there. She wants you GONE before the trial date. Don't confront her, let the lawyers do it.
just me(09/06/2006)
I agree. Screen shots are important showing her user id and all that. Her doing that was actually a gift to you in that she unknowingly left a "documentable" trail for you. I can't wait for the day you tell us her goose has been cooked.
Dharmadee(09/06/2006)
Yes-she has been trying to get rid of me this way for some time. The thing is, she IS really stupid, so it would be laughable if the higher-ups were not so eager to cover for her. This is NOT the first time she sabotaged me, and I was able to find it. It is actually the fourth time, so far. On one occasion, a department meeting was called, supposedly just to "update" us, then the administrator tried to "jump" me in front of my co-workers, using trumped up evidence that he actually highlighted in yellow. When I poimted out that the B.M. was the next person on the "history", moments after me, (and conveniently NOT highlighted), they shut right up and dismissed the meeting. Unbelievable. That is when I realized that they did not have a problem with her lying, they had a problem with me being smart enough to catch her at it. What kind of people are they??? And all I ever wanted to do was just go in and do my job, and not play stupid office politics.
the confessor(09/06/2006)
Unfortunately, capable folks who don't want to play politics are targeted by sociopaths like the Bimbette. Her skills (or choice of skills) are evident: providing sex in exchage for pay and privelege, collecting and spreading disinformation for those she has provided sexual favors to, and going after anyone who shows independence of thought or action in a capable fashion. As I said before, I see her escalating to a physical confrontation. Do not hesitate to call the authorities.
SouthernProgrammer(09/06/2006)
Mention to your counselor you are concerned she may try a physical confrontation!!!!!!! This will be good for you!!! If a physical confrontation DOES occur, grit your teeth and do NOTHING in kind except for going to a Doctor and getting photos taken. Naturally, you (and anyone sane) would like to clean her clock but sometimes you have to grit your teeth and think of long term benefits.
Dharmadee(09/06/2006)
I saw my doctor today, and he has given me an official diagnosis of work related stress. I am going to the therapist tomorrow, and will let him know, as well as to show him documentation of the Bimbp's continued harrassment. I will also be giving him my statement that I feel threatened on a personal level, given the escalation of activities against me. I also called a very prominent attorney in the area, and should be getting a call back soon. So-we will see what happens next...
BPFH(09/06/2006)
Getting the right lawyer is often the way to deal with that sort of an employer. I'll admit I've never been in that situation myself, but I got to watch my father go through it. The lawyer his union provided wasn't much good, but the one he hired himself... *Very Big Evil Grin* Well, let's just say that that lawyer used Teddy Roosevelt's advice quite well.
SouthernProgrammer(09/07/2006)
IMO, the Bimbette is out to get you because she is used to getting her way. In the past she would use her wiles and body (gag) to get her way. She ran people off, got her friends hired yet YOU (who - in her mind - is lower than her) dared to stand up to her! How DARE you not run away when she stomped her tiny foot at you! You WILL win this battle and be stronger for it.
C - -(09/07/2006)
If I read this right her feet may not be so tiny. The difference in body size concerns me. Otherwise I agree with Southern. To her surprise she met somebody who she cannot dislodge with ease. Obviously she is used to people curl up and die for her. Sending you energy and strength.
Dharmadee(09/08/2006)
You are reading it right, she is an absolute Amazon. Definitely all brawn and no brains, but I do get the impression that she has used physical intimidation tactics in the past to push people around. Interestingly enough, though-the nickname for the male bully in this scenario IS "Little-foot" by my co-workers (and I could not possibly make this stuff up!) Also known in certain sectors as "Little Hitler". So, how is that for an unholy marriage of opposites? Thanks so much for all the good thoughts and help, people. It has really made a difference.
old Nurse(09/08/2006)
The kind of bullies like Bimbette rarely physically attack in front of a witness. If she ever lays a rotten hand on you, let out a scream, fall on the floor and stay there. They will have to call an ambulance eventually, you have been badly hurt, your back!! you can't get up. Don't let her say you fell, get a mark on you even if you have to make it. She can't talk her way out of this one, attacking an employee. It's SUE time, find a good lawyer.
Dharmadee(09/09/2006)
It IS time to sue, but I am having a problem finding a lawyer, believe it or not. I must interject at this point that I work for a very prominent corporate law firm (think "The Devil's Advocate", and you will be close). These miserable clowns have been appointed to key government positions, and we actually have a former Secretary of Energy prowling the hallowed halls. SO- NO lawyer that I have contacted in the area has the guts to take them on. Even the biggest blowhards, the ones that advertise constantly on TV with the U.S. flag blowing behind them, are not returning my calls. Any suggestions? I am wondering if there is any hope with a union lawyer - I don't even know where to start.
C - -(09/10/2006)
Did any of the law offices mention another lawyer? Mine did recommend 2 labor lawyers. One had a conflict of interest but still took his hourly fee. (Don't write that check until you are sure) The other one had a long waiting list and was very expensive. -----If you are a union member your union should have a list of lawyers you can ask. ----You could phone any union local and ask until you get to the right office. -------There is only one successful case I know of. The plaintiff's husband was a lawyer and he asked another lawyer to handle her case.
Dharmadee(09/10/2006)
I was afraid of that...I did get some referrals, but the fees were astronomical. I was told by one fellow, who was very apologetic, that the laws in favor of workers have been so degraded that it is almost impossible for anyone to win a judgment against any employer, let alone a coprporate law firm. Ths is so sad, not just for me but for every worker out there.
SouthernProgrammer(09/10/2006)
I find it hard to believe that you could not get a good settlement against your employer. Especially with that tape you have. Someone must not be advising you correctly, heck, take it to the local TV station.
Dharmadee(09/10/2006)
I am going to the first "mediation meeting" next week. I plan to play that card. I bet they don't want to see this on the news.
C - -(09/11/2006)
I suppose you have tried searching the internet already. It is rather overwhelming. There is a lot of talk by corporate employment lawyers wasting space. One website looks promising.www.LawyersandSettlements.com then scroll til you find Employment Lawyers on the right side of the screen. I tried my state and see a lot of corporate types hopefully your state has a better selection.
Dharmadee(09/11/2006)
Lots of corporate types here too...oh well. I am getting resigned to the fact that this is just the way it is. I believe that America has truly lost it's soul. There is a reason why our government was called "the great experiment". The idea of all people being equal is something that is very hard to achieve, even in the best of times.
Dharmadee(09/12/2006)
Went to the counselor, it is all in writing. Plus, he and my doctor agree that all my physical symptoms, even my pneumonia, were due to a lowered immune system, caused by a toxic work environment. Now, can I use them as witnesses, if necessary?
SouthernProgrammer(09/12/2006)
Heck yeah you can use them.
C - -(09/12/2006)
Don't let any medical personnel get away. One of the counselors said to me she was afraid she would lose her license and whined something about that her notes would not fit the medical conclusion. Two previous counselors had already verified job-stress and resulting depression from injuries. Like a fool I believed her. She and some of the physicians were afraid they would lose time and money testifying. Stay focused! Send subpoenas if you can, you have to.
Dharmadee(09/12/2006)
I will definitely subpoena if I have to. Th Bimbo is now trying to throw herself across desks, and rub up on people, apparently in the hope of getting support. God, it is the weirdest thing. My co-workers are all noticing and commenting on it. I bet she is getting stressed out, and this is her only way to deal with it. Pathetic sleazebag.
blase(09/12/2006)
You sound like someone who likes to sabotage others work and then whine and cry when you don't get your way. Get over yourself and quit, nobody likes an egotistical witch.
Dharmadee(09/13/2006)
Excuse me? And how am I "sabotaging" someone else's work? Where in the world did that come from? This woman actually CHANGED data to make me look bad, then reported me to higher managment-and I am the one who is "sabotaging"? What are you talking about? I have caught her numerous times as she tried to get my fired, and now it appears that she us using sex whenever and wherever peossible to gain allies. It is not that easy to just "quit", or I certainly would have. I am currently looking for another job, but unfortunately they are scarce in my area. I am shocked by your comments.
SouthernProgrammer(09/13/2006)
Ignore blase, this poster has replied to several other posts with comments simply designed to start a fight. Don't even reply to blase.
Dharmadee(09/13/2006)
Thanks Southern-that kind of caught me by surprise. Bad day yesterday...my daughter was let go (she worked in a completely different area), after she stood up for me. I feel terrible...but I know she did what she believed was right, as I have. What a mess.
C - -(09/13/2006)
They stooped so low as to go after members of your family?
Dharmadee(09/13/2006)
Yes, C--! My daughter actually referred me for this job, as she had worked there almost 8 years, right out of high school. She was scheduled to be trained at the home office, and had the plane tickets and hotel already purchased for her. In the meantime, she was becoming more and more concerned about me, as other employees were going to her and telling her what the Bimbo was saying about me behind my back. After a lot of thought, my daughter decided to speak to the administrator, feeling that she was a valued employee with some rights, in order to request some intervention on my behalf. She approached him with extreme caution, simply asking that there be some involvement from higher management, so that the Bimbo would not be allowed to smear my name up and down the company to anyone who would listen. Unfortunately, rather than address the problem, the administrators decided that they would get rid of my daughter, by "down-sizing" my daughter's position. It cam as a complete shock to her-she was scheduled to fly to the home office the following week, for her training!!! To add insult to injury, they kept her working in the office for almost 2 months, while they searched for a replacement with the right "credentials", then made her compile a trainig manual, and train her replacement for the job. This whole episode was obviously designed to inflict as much emotional pain on both of us as possible, in order to shield the Bimbo. They had to know that this would be incredibly hurtful to me, as my daughter and I are very close, rode to work toether every day and ate lunch together. I am past outrage at this point.
C - -(09/14/2006)
This is terrible. I can't find the right words to show how sorry I am -- Shaking my head in disbelieve. Is your husband's job in a different area and is he safe? --Who else has Bimbo been sleeping with -- They obviously can't fire her or she will sue and she must have proof of every affair.
Dharmadee(09/14/2006)
It is sickening to me that onr Bimbo, sleeping around insures her ability to destroy other people's lives. This eperience has really eroded my confidence in the human race. It is obvious that a corporate environmnt can easily degenerate into a herd of animals. I did get the name of another attorney, and will try to call them today. I sure do not want to walk into any so-called "mediations" without a shark on MY side.
the confessor(09/16/2006)
It's ridiculous...I know what you mean when you talk about laying across the desk, as I've indicated before...one time our sleazy secretary actually came into the manager's office while I was meeting with him, THREW herself onto her back on the couch, and began a weird kind of sit-up motion with her legs pumping in the air-and she was wearing a skirt! I've actually had people tell me that this COULDN'T HAVE HAPPENED!!! P.S. The manager's reaction? After she got up and swished out of his office he looked at me and sheepishly said "...look, I really love my wife..." I lost respect for him that day and never met with him again.
Dharmadee(09/16/2006)
I hear you. If I have learned anything about this experience, it is that supposedly "good" people can leave their belief systems and relationships at the door, and act in a completely obnoxious manner, wothout conscience, in a work environment. That is disgusting, to me, and shows a lack of the most basic attribute of a decent human being: integrity. If a person cannot be trusted to speak the same personal truth, in or out of the workplace, then what is the point of that person? I did get some advice from a local attorney, for the upcoming mediation meeting. She told me that she is well acquainted with the attorney that will be coming against me, from the firm. Her comment about him was, "Well-he is not a typical a-h@*e corporate lawyer, as he is personally a Democrat. But he leaves that at the door when he comes to the table, and does anything necessary to win his case, on behalf of employers." Nice. So that is what it looks like when someone loses their soul.
Dharmadee(09/16/2006)
"Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter." - Martin Luther King Jr.. Just wanted to add that thought. So the corporate lawyer says he is a Democrat? Right. It seems to me that most of these clowns must be dead already, they are just still walking around.
Dharmadee(09/18/2006)
Mediation meeting today. What a miserable experience. The B.M. did not even show, neither did the corporate lawyer. Just the horrid weasel of an administrator, who apparently thinks I am the WORST employee ever...yup-everything that has happpened, everything the Bimbo has done to me, is totally justified, because I am UNPRODUCTIVE! Gosh, even being under a doctor's restriction after double pneumonia was just an exscuse to be a slacker. WHy did I set myself up for this???
pradeep(09/19/2006)
Two words. Qu-It.
C - -(09/19/2006)
Dharm - the admin is just doing as told - make you look bad and upset you. I hope you can stay calm and professional. Are there going to be several sessions?
Dharmadee(09/19/2006)
Well, I stayed as calm as possible, although I did refer to lawyers as "sharks" at one point. (I don't think I am the first person to say that, though!) Supposedly the mediator will be calling me back today. I am trying to be reasonable without slinking off into the sunset with my tail between my legs. Their "offer" to me was that if I quit, they would not contest my unemployment. Big of them, wasn't it? The thing is, whether they like it or not, I have substantial documentation, and a very supportive family. I am going back in there today, and see what happens. This is unreal, though. But-at this point, my feeling is-if they really want the Bimbo that bad, they are going to have to pay for it.
Freedomringer(09/19/2006)
I dont think they are paying you enough to suffer the health consequences you will face because of the stress. Is it really worth it? I know what my answer would be. NO! I would rather live in a box down by the river and have my peace than deal with what you have been dealt. I would leave and take a job at burger joint than suffer their insults another day!
Dharmadee(09/19/2006)
You could be right, Freedomringer. They have decided not to negotiate with me at all, it is basically "take it or leave it". Oh, by the way-we had a meeting today, called at lunchtime by the Bimbo. We did get sandwiches brought in-however, the lunch hour was unpaid. This is a clear violation of federal labor laws. God, it never ends. These people are truly unbelievable.
SouthernProgrammer(09/20/2006)
Of course she did not show up to the mediation meeting. That was a "power play" to show that, in their minds, nothing's wrong! Just play the tape you have and watch things happen. Wow, Sandwichs.
C - -(09/20/2006)
as long as the sandwiches were storebought and wrapped. I would not even trust them if they touched my food at this point. Wasting your unpaid lunchtime is another psychological power play. :)there was no spinach in those sandwiches by any chance, now was there?:)
Dharmadee(09/20/2006)
I do not touch their sandwiches, or their pizza, or their brownies. I bring in a nurtition bar, and eat it in front of them. When someone asks me why I am not eating the delicious lunch they have so kindly provided, I just smile and say, "Thanks, but I have a policy-don't eat anything if I don't know where it came from." Ouch, you should see their faces. I feel bad about it, as I am not normally rude-but I do not trust them.
the confessor(09/21/2006)
Back in the day, when I left the radio station from hell, two of the most obnoxious people there offered me "a little send-off..." I knew just what kind of circus they had in mind. I left with the satisfaction of knowing they soon would be revealed as the troublemakers they were... Screw the sandwiches and pizza!! WHERE'S MY SETTLEMENT CHECK!!!
Dharmadee(09/21/2006)
Guess what guys, the settement should be in the mail shortly. I dragged myself in there today-and lo and behold, the Bimbo had once again assigned me, the smallest person, to do lifting and shifting by myself - and to complete a huge filing room by the end of the workday(!). She had actually specifically written down that everyone else should stay at their desks all day! I went to the H.R. person, who agreed that it was an unreasonable request, that this task had always been done by at least two people (if not more) before. She advised me to "talk" to the B.M., and explain that to her. HA! I went in, and told her that it was physically impossible to have the job finished by the end of the day, as she instructed. She looked at me with this little smirk of triumph, and said, "I am confident that you can complete it by the end of the day!" I told her it was impossible, and she d**n well knew it. Then this fat, pathetic, overly tanned (think orange) bar bimbo with an out-dated "Farrah Fawcett" hairstyle and too much eye liner said, (I swear): "I will not allow that kind of language in my office!" Oh - the shock, can you believe it? I offended her virgin ears. I told her, "Well, you better go ahead and document it, because there is more where that came from." Then I went to my desk, called their labor lawyer and resigned - with a small settlement. Thank God, I am done with this circus. (I feel sorry for my co-workers though, she IS a serial bully.)THANKS for all your encouragement, guys, you have helped me more than you know.
old Nurse(09/21/2006)
The BM ?? ROFL in the medical field that means something else but it fits in this case. What a ordeal, this really was a job from Hell. Good luck.
C - -(09/21/2006)
Dharm, are you done with the hearings or is the settlement a done deal? This Bimbo's behavior is so predictable. You have taken it as far as you could. Be proud - you made it without getting hurt - physically I mean. First she does all the evil she can then she feigns the mock upset bit when somebody has enough and uses a strong word. This is not even a bad word, the sanctimonious bigot. If the Bimbo continues bullying other people they can use the same option you had and ask for a hearing.---Best wishes, lots of luck and a happy future.
Dharmadee(09/21/2006)
Well, they are drawing up the agreement, and I am supposed to sign it tomorrow. According to the mediator, it is a reasonable agreement, and I would probably not get much more, even if I went through a series of hearings. So-as long as they draw it up according to the verbal agreement I got today, it should be OK. I guess part of me wants to stick it out, be in her face, and force the issue, but heck-I have a life too. I don't have time for her stupid games. As the mediator told me this morning - "Sucess is the best revenge."
SouthenProgrammer(09/22/2006)
Good for you. Her attitude shows that (In her mind) the whole incident was nothing and she is bulletproof. Obviously HR is not going to admit they made a mistake in hiring you so the best thing you can do is leave. Do realize you will need to have a thick skin as she is going to talk about you when you leave. Just relish in the knowledge that sooner or later she will be pushed out.
the confessor(09/22/2006)
My guess is sooner than later. She's now compromised herself, plus there's plent of other companies that could use a "head assistant"...Good luck and good life to you Dee!
Dharmadee(09/22/2006)
Went in, got the agreement, plus an "assurance" that the Bimbo will keep her mouth shut about me...doubtful...but they claimed that they had already "scheduled a very serious meeting" with her. One can only hope that she will get hers eventually. Couldn't help but laugh at the daily hroscopes: Mine told me to get back my authentic self, and pursue new interests. HERS said that she needed to "focus on a single task, and learn to do it more slowly". Gee, I wonder what that could be referring to? ;-)
blola(09/23/2006)
Dharmadee, so proud of you! Going through a similar situation and you give me such renewed hope. That "shedevil" will get hers.
HaveADamnNiceDay(09/23/2006)
Dharmadee!!! So glad you got out of there! No job is worth your health! Even if it takes a while, you'll find something better--and success IS the best revenge! I've beenn praying for you! Hopefully, the Bimbette will get her own soon! It always comes back to them eventually! I had a pig manager (think a man who actually looked like a pig, and acted like one too) at a shoestore that I worked at ages ago when I was in college, and he would sometimes direct lewd or indiscreet comments in my direction, and encourage his friends to call me on the STORE TELEPHONE and sexually harass me! When the store finally liquidated, he never gave me my last check. I had to HOUND HIM FOR THREE MONTHS to send me my friggin money! Guess what happened to him that winter? A car in front of him had a whole solid sheet of ice on it's roof, and it flew off and smashed the windshield on his jeep! Serves him right! I wished he could have wrecked after that, but I know it's wrong to wish that much misfortune on someone, even if they are your worst enemy! Anyhow, we're all happy for you Dharmadee! Great job fighting the war of atrition! Now go get YOURS!
Dharmadee(09/26/2006)
This i getting weirder, people...I got notice from the NLRB, that my complaint is valid, and they want to pursue it. Apparently the agreement I signed was totally illegal, and the NLRB has already informed them about it. I am concerned about the agreement I made with my former employer, I do not want them to deny me my unemployment, etc. The NLRB said that is was "bigger" than just me-it was about the rights of employees everywhere, to interact with other employees and not be subjected to bullying and harrasment. I realize it is important, but I don't know if I can afford the fight. What do you guys think?
C - -(09/27/2006)
... Just when you thought it was safe to go to the unemployment office.----Phone them, talk to them and ask all the important questions as in, can you sign up for unemployment benefits while they do their legal wrangling. Trying to come up with other suggestions. Good night/good morning whatever the case may be.
Dharmadee(09/27/2006)
They worked it out between them, supposedly...I took your advice, C--, and called the office. They sounded remarkably reasonable, and promised that all changes that were requested would be made, and everyting could be arranged for my "convenience", to facilitate the process. I am a little wary, as you might imagine, but hopefully it will go smoothly, as originally planned. Any prayers and good wishes are most appreciated!
C - -(09/27/2006)
Done - Hoping for a fast and bloodless resolution on your part. Chin-up
C - -(09/28/2006)
Actually I am surprised the NLRB got involved I was under the impression they only investigate union matters. Things must be looking up, at least in your state. My previous employer was excluded from their list.
Dharmadee(09/28/2006)
It was weird, everyone said they were just for union activity-but I found out that the law is written in such a way, that "Union Activity" means anytime people get together to try to help each other. Of course, it depends on the regional director's interpretation of this definition. In my case, apparently enough laws were violated to cover a whole raft of labor laws.
the confessor(09/29/2006)
Sounds like it's over except the cryin'-on their part. Just remember that you didn't initiate this hassle, La Bimbetta did; that you have sustained psychological injury from this that will not show up until later (PTSD); and that senior management was late to the party in addressing all of this, and her overt sexualization in the office would lead any reasonable person to believe that she was taking part in unacceptable workplace behavior. Oh, and remember all of us in the Jobschmob community are behind you, as evidenced by the number of responses to this post. Hang in there, Dee!
