Ok this boss lost his only employee/co-worker after 30 years and I am starting to see why. He is completely disorganized, I am shocked he can find his own clothes. He asks the same questions four or five times and that's just the first week. He will suggest that you do something and next week ask you not only why you did it that way but ask you why didn't talk to him about it first. He screams obscenities on the phone if you don't answer him with the answer he wants to any given question. Of course if you try to gently remind him that he not only suggested something but that you just had this same conversation a couple days ago he responds by saying "I hear what you are saying". Right, and then there is always the money conversation where he complains about how broke he is when he is going through several hundred dollars a week on ("I don't know where my money goes I never buy anything") only to remind me that "I still have to pay you for being here". And for extra fun he has his son-in-law show up while I'm gone to hack into the accounting program to "see how things are going" (never mind the reports and bankstatements he looked at with me last Friday) and inadvertantly erases the last four months of accounting data for me AND now I can only access accounting data that is prior to the date I was hired. He calls day and night to ask questions, gets into files and moves them around my desk to where I can't find things he is asking me for and each time promises never to mess up my desk again, has to have help to balance his personal account and cannot contact or communicate with anyone or anything that isn't a customer. Like for his life insurance or his personal bills. I am shocked he talks to his girlfriend by himself. His family recommended me for the job and told me they tried to do it but the work was too complicated...I think they hate me or something. I'm not Job from old testament, I handle so much for him and show him everything I do but it's clear he has no confidence in what I do for him. I started a journal of all the jobs he has messed up on just from the past month as he is costing the business hundreds to thousands of dollars each month from simple mistakes he keeps making. I feel sorry for him but he is exasperating me. I had to get on heart pills and I have only worked for him for a few months. I'm too tired to share more, he is the worst boss I have ever heard of or had.

It sounds like this job is doing some serious damage to your physical and mental health! Get out while you are still intact. Sounds as if the company is about to go down the flusher! My ex-boss (sweet man but awful company) always said it's a dog eat dog world and I'm wearing milkbone underwear!! I LOVE that saying! Good luck to you, I think you're gonna need it!

Sounds like a guy who lived at home with his parents a few years too long and never learned how to take care of himself.

It sounds like the guy has a drug/drinking problem. Does his family own the company?

Get away from him, any way you can! He needs a lot more help than you can give him. Talk to his family if you feel safe to do so. A medical professional would be a good start. The threat of being declared incapable of managing one's own affairs as in being legally incapacitated may be a good start.
