Update on the "new" job.... Ok so Cats Lady has officially become the COW, and she acts like a delinquent 6-year old.....
As you know, I'm an office grunt--I handle the menial tasks like filing, and carrying heavy things, and occasionally using my brain ^_^. Since our office has eight docs, we see tons of patients. I mean TONS. So, naturally we swim in paper. I handle the paper for half of the docs, and Tiny Lady handles the other four, and we have a 'floater' who goes between us and helps out when she isn't busy (Sensitive Lady--for those of you who have read my other stories). Since health insurance is tricky stuff, we have to pull all the charts of patients to be seen TWO DAYS IN ADVANCE. Ok, and we have to put all the recent paperwork in them so they're up to date and the docs have everything they need. I get a list of these charts to pull usually around 1 or 2 in the afternoon, and I can usually get everything done with the notes and all by about 3-ish. Once I have done this, I have to give the charts to the cow across the hall who makes my work life a living, breathing, pulsating hell. You see, she thinks she's my boss. She isn't. She's also the one who prints my pull-lists...
Since my list was printed late on tuesday, at like three in the afternoon, I didn't have alot of time, and there were LOTS of charts to pull for three doctors. So, I got to work. I had the charts all piled up and was just getting ready to put the notes in, when the COW swooped down and took up all my charts. I said, "Um, I'm trying to put the notes in so the docs don't complain. Since you're taking the charts, do you want them?
"NO! I don't want them! You need to carry this stuff over to my office and quit waiting for the cart!" Said the cow. (we sometimes use a cart when we have alot of stuff to haul and we don't want to make more than one trip). Ok, the notes didn't get into the charts.
The next day, one of the secretaries says to me, "Hey, the Cow is emailing me about notes. Do you have them?" I told her what happened, and she asked me to go give the notes to the cow. I went. (the Cow often uses this practice to make us filers look bad, and we've had meetings and discussions galore on this issue, all seeming to no avail--so, as usual, I was a little miffed.)
I put the notes on the cow's desk and said, "These are the notes that are missing!" and walked out and shut the door. She rumbled out, notes in hand and said, "I DON'T WANT THESE!" and then threw them at me.
Do you know anyone who throws crap at their co-workers? This was new to me, and I was dumbstruck with complete shock. Who acts like this???
I went back and informed ms. Nice Secretary that the cow threw the notes back and didn't want them.
Ok, so I've skipped some events, but in a nutshell between the chart theft and the note throwing, she came out and griped at me about not doing what she said, blah blah blah, and I told her to quit being nasty and I walked away. Fast forward to later on when I had to pull charts again (this time ON time), she comes out and says to me, "Moooo..." Hehehe!!! No, she said, "Don't wait for the cart this time, just take the charts to my desk and don't wait around..." I cut her off and told her to go away and leave me be. I'm trying to take the high road, here!
A few times that day when she'd start mooing at me I told her to go away and to leave me alone. I didn't cuss, didn't shout, nothing. I can behave myself. So later I'm in the hall of the building, going back into the office, and a lady from billing is behind me, and I open the door for her, and the Cow marches through, just as one of the docs comes in the front door next to us, and the Cow udders, "FREAK!" as she's walking back to her pasture. I think she was mad because I wouldn't play her games. But come on, namecalling? Middle school is over!
This is all too surreal....
What really is great about this is that I had two witnesses standing there and they heard it and saw it happen. The doc went to Untrustworthy Office Manager and told her about it, and the next day the billing lady went and told her too. To boot, I had already explained the morning's incident to Untrustworthy's more trustworthy secretary, and she was aghast! She relayed the message for me, and I wrote a letter later that afternoon after I had calmed down a bit. I was really mad......
I was afraid I'd be in Untrustworthy Manager's office, yelling obscenities and waving my arms and carrying on like a rabid baboon. I needed to get a grip before I tried to rationally explain everything that happened, and I did that today. Ugh. I know Untrustworthy Office Manager isn't going to do anything about it (except talk to her and tell her to be nice, which she says she keeps having to do--HELLO! GET A CLUE!!!!). Cow has been stampeding the office for years, and terrorizes everyone. The docs want her gone, and I know that Office Manager is hiding all the incidents from Dr. Senior Partner.
Speaking of which, Dr. Witness asked Untrustworthy if she'd relayed the incident to Dr. Senior Partner (I overheard them--they were like five feet away from me), and she said she hadn't. I know she doesn't want to!
What am I missing, here? Untrustworthy Office manager is protecting the EVIL COW! WHY?????

The Cow has somethingon Untrustworthy Office Manager? That is often the case. At my job, we cannot imagine why the general manager keeps one of the department heads who is stupid and incompetent. Unless of course the manager had photos of the GM with a hooker...

Sadly I think there is a lot of truth to the blackmail theory in corporate america. I recently found out about a whole network of sleeping around going on among a group of execs and a select few ladies. The happy ending is one eventualy got fired. Hopefully it broke up their merry band of whatever the hell they were doing...

well, it's really odd, because these two are not the likely types to be in a 'relationship' together, if you get my meaning, as I think their tastes lie elsewhere. I really don't understand why else she would be sweeping everything under the rug. Someone's bound to notice the dirt lump eventually, or trip over it... Speaking of which, the Cow has been putting on a show for the last two days since Untrustworthy Office Manager went and had a word with her to curb her obnoxious behavior, but it's all so FAKE! She's been ridiculously nice to us, and we all know it's an act. I've made up my mind that no matter what, when the obnoxious behavior surfaces again, I'm not going to Office Manager lady. I'm going to Dr. Senior Partner. He tolerates no crap.

Always go to the ultimate decision maker. If they blow you off, then your next move is easy-leave. As far as the sleeping around thing, it is rife in most businesses, and has more to do with power and position than passion. It's one of the reasons that "family-run" businesses have become attractive to work at- what they offer is a situation where you know who the boss is sleeping with-his wife (hopefully!) Also keep in mind that the doctors realize you're doing the work of 2 or 3 people- if you leave, they'll take a hit, and COW will be still kicking crap all over the stall. Good luck!!

Well, I'll make it clear as I can: They are both women, and both straight. I think there is something else going on. Maybe Cow has Touret's Syndrome or something. I think ultimately that Untrustworthy Office Manager genuinely believes that Cow means well (yeah right...). After she spoke to the Cow, the cow gave me some kind of 'peace offering' for a friend of mine who doesn't work with us. Office Mangager lady came and asked me how things are going, and I mentioned that, and she said, "See? She's trying." My opinion is that she isn't trying for crap. She's putting on a show because she's under close watch right now. As soon as she's sure they're not looking anymore, it's back to bullying and fighting with the other people in the office. I've retained a copy of the letter that I gave to Untrustworthy Office Manager in case I do need to give it to Dr. Senior Partner. I'm waiting for her to essentially slip in her own poo, and then I'll make sure she lands in it face-first.

I think I forgot to mention this, but there is someone who is seeking to employ me, and actually requested my service. I'm really thinking of taking up that offer. Besides, this job is rough on me physically, too. My hands are a mess :oP

Wow Read my postings about my office. It is so haed to believe that offices are ran this way and that people have to put up with such people as the "Cow" The women that I mention in my postings is truly a "Cow" in every sense of the word. She is the office informant, liar and all around evil-cow. She treats the support staff like crap. Mind you she ia also a support individual as well.We do so much more than filing, we even do her job while she complains. Sits on her wide can and say "do me a favor". If you don't do her a favor you on the b-witches shit list. Let me tell you something the "cow" is probably intimidated by you. She is probably very insecure and unhappy. Often times people like that have alot going on behind closed doors. The manager/super in my office is so two-faced and unethical that she makes supers look bad. She is real good for going bck a repeatingthngs but she never resolves the issues. She allows it to go on and on. The super in my office is an encourager of the nonsense and if you tell her anything she twists the story and makes matters worse. And when you confront the two-faced manager she acts as though she is lost or just plain DADA-Dumb. This board is new to me and the more I read it I get upset at all this. I won't even begin to talk abouthe so called professionals in my office. They are so lazy and overpaid it isn't funny. There attitude is I just broke a nail I need to take off the rest of the day.LOL
