My boss has worked around retards too long to know how to deal with intelligent people. I work at an adult education. A place where people come to get there diploma's or GED's after dropping out of school.
Here's some background on a few students...one has spent 30 yrs. of his life working on his diploma and finally recieved it the first year I worked here, tried to go to college but was having too much trouble reading and decided to come back here for tutoring! A lot of the students who "graduate" come back for more education. Most students come for the free food and internet.
The school is completely free of charge and the students run the school. My boss micromanages everything that I do but let's the students get away with murder (almost). She has hired two graduates to work with me. This just makes my job harder. She asked the guy she hired for custodial to wash the windows. She wanted him to take down posters and really clean them good. So what does he do? Tries to remove the no smoking sticker and the company logo from the windows. I would have fired him right there. But nope, instead it is now my job to make sure he is cleaning the windows right. The second has maybe come to work 4 times since she has been hired...and never on time! I am doing all of her work and still getting in trouble for not keeping up on my work.
I must say that the work that my boss gives me is B.S. One day I was in the middle of working on something that needed to be done, and she made me drop everything to make stars. Cardboard stars...glue them together and put them on a stick! These were for the "prom" that was that night...yes the adult education has a prom...and field trips. Ok...so I finish working on these stars and let her know. Get this, she says to me "Good, we might need those tonight." Ummm might? She then informed me they were just in case they didn't have enough decorations!

HI You know I wouldn't believe it if I wern't experiencing this myself. My office is ran pretty much the same way. I worl with so called professionals and because they never can remember to complete all the legal paperwork. The super tells the support staff to do this for these so called professionls that brag about their huge incomes. Never mind the fact that we already have our own, ton of paperwrok to complete. It makes no sense to me that these people are getting paid to do this stuff but are being coddled like small infants when they forget. I think that my super is afraid of the professionals(thye stick together) and knows that there is no unity among the support staff. Therefore, she picks up on that and viola'! I agree with the other commenter that you should document. I do. I try to remember it all and to write it all down but sometimes it is hard. There is so much going on in my office that is in violation. Take Care it will work out:)

Let me get this straight. They are paying you to watch somebody clean windows and make sure that he doesn't cean the stickers off of them? I don't even know what to say about that. Sounds like you fell down a rabbit hole.

Wow, you sound patient. Sounds like your boss is scatter brained. My heart goes out to you. I would try those duplicate memo forms and cover your behind whenever you have to communicate with this one.
