Rehiring of all the outsourced positions

Just thought I would share a quick story regarding my last company I worked for. A few years back they jumped on the outsourcing bandwagon and proceeded to oursource all their IT application developers. Well most of us jumped ship before we had to train our overseas counterparts on how to do our jobs. Many of us found better jobs, better pay and more appreciate companies to work for.

Flash to today. Apparently my old company is now in the process of trying to "rehire" many of the positions they outsourced years ago. After years of getting no work done with the steady turnover rate of consulting resources, they are finally starting to see the value of having employees in-house to do the work.

A number of my old co-workers have already gone back, and hopefully got higher salaries. I for one will be taking a pass. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. I'll take my chances elsewhere.

Boy, don't I wish. Ain't gonna happen in my case, since the position are just being outsourced now. And if they "realize their mistake" in 5 years and try and call me, then sorry Charlie, I'll be somewhere much, much better by then!

Seems to be a trend. Why don't these comapnies learn? Oh wait...they enjoy wasting time and money.

It's not so much that they enjoy wasting time and money, it's that they tend to look at both in *only* the short term. If it gets the profits up so the CEO gets his performance bonus this year, who cares if the long-term effects make the company go belly up?
