Home > Bosses From Hell

Lead by example part 2

We were having a Supervisor' Meeting on a Friday at 4pm in the office. The first topic was how the computer program was not designed to handle enough of a certain client data situation. Because of this problem, all supervisors, INCLUDING THE BOSS, entered the excess data in a certain location. This made for a mess. Every supervisor agreed that something needed to be done; but it was up to the boss to decide the best remedy. The boss hollered at us for the mess that was created; then gave the new data collection procedures and threating consequences if the procedures were not followed. The supervisors did not mind the new procedures. What we did not like was the way he talked about us creating the problem when he was the one who ok'ed it. Also, 15 minutes after the procedure was forcefully explained to us, a client employee entered with the data situation that was the problem. The boss handled the situation using the OLD PROCEDURES. We all knew better than point out to him his error. You could just read everyone's mind at the time.

Did the New Procedure work? 95% of the time. Ususally first shift when they were "busy" did not do it.
