Why Don't You Know that You Don't Know?

One senior manager I had was very anal-and greedy. He was constantly trying to get people to "volunteer" to do stuff that he should have got others to do. He once roped me intro shipping a piece of equipment that our engineer should have sent. He simply did not want to pay the engineer his higher rate of pay. I had no idea what this equipment did-I simply packed it up and sent it to the address indicated. A week later, he called while I was meeting with a client, insisting to speak with me immediately. The following conversation took place:
BOSS: Now what was that piece of equipment you sent off?
ME: I don't know.
BOSS: And why is that?
ME: Because I'm not an engineer...
BOSS: Why is that?
ME: I don't know that either.
BOSS: So you don't why you don't know?
ME: That's right!
BOSS: And why is that?
ME: I don't know why it is that I don't know why I don't know...
BOSS: Why?
This continued until I sent him over to my poor boss. What an idiot this guy was!!
