Squeezing the life out of me

Do you ever have one of those days where you feel like all your energy, creativity and passion gets sucked out of you the moment you sit down in your cube and turn your PC on? I have them about 5 days a week.

It starts out with our weekly Monday morning meeting where all my creative ideas get shot down by my boss who likes things done one way, HIS way.

Next comes Tuesday. I figure out a way to save the company $15,000 by re-architecting my bosses original plan only to find out he goes behind my back to lobby and get his way. Mind you he has no consideration for cost savings, he is only interested in not being wrong.

Along comes Wednesday. A project I am working on and finally starting to passionate about gets cut short. My boss apparently sees that I am enjoying what I am doing and wants me to take on one of his projects that has fallen behind and been screwed up (by him). So off I go to save his a$$ again.

At last, Thursday. The day before the day I long for. Oh but wait, we have another weekly meeting on Thursdays to go over all our work items listed in our daily report that we need to update hourly. Yeah, Thursdays suck.

Friday oh beautiful Friday. I must say Fridays are nice because much of the office seems to bail out early, and that leaves me to sneak out ON TIME for once instead of staying late like most folks do every other night. A weekend of freedom has arrived! But oh wait, I have this wonderful device called a pager, and i'm on call this weekend. Just great. I need a new job!

Thanks for listening.
