Manditory Schedule Change

Xinsecurity This ones for you Brother...So this boss from hell, JR, he gets this idea into his small cranium, the Swing Shift needs to be filled, it's been opened too long. So he approches the lead people and tells them. "The company has decided that the Swing Shift postion has been opened too long. We will be changing everyone's schedule to make that shift more appealing. You are to come up with a proposed schedule changing the hours so we can fill this spot." Right away I see right through this small minded scheme. He knows that he can't change our agreed apon schedules without a load of trouble and if we come up with the changes we can't complain about it. "After all it was you guys who made the decision." It would've worked too if I didn't work for him that is...

So the day of the big meeting comes and everyone is prepaired to give up thier choice schedules to a swing shift person who doesn't even work for us yet. Everyone but me that is. (evil grin). So JR goes through the motions of the meeting and asks: "Did everyone make up thier proposed schedules?" "Who didn't" I raise my hand. "Why did you do it?" he asks. I say "Because I'm totally opposed to any schedule change." He blows a gasket. (I can actually see his rage behind those black soulless eyes). JR tells me "If you have not done what I ask you can just leave and take what ever changes we make. YOU DO NOT HAVE A CHOICE!" to which I reply, "JR, I always have a choice." steam is now pouring out of his ears. JR replies, "Oh right you'll quit." and I say "Yep I'll quit." So I pick up my stuff to go and he asks, "Where do you think your going?" To which I say "You told me to leave." He then gets that oh so familure look that says to me, 'I'm too slow for this kind of confrontation, I should be trying to beat you up right now but I can't...' He then tells me, "You need to stay, but you can't say anything during the rest of this meeting." to which I sit back down. At that point I'm now pissed because I can't get away for this jerk and now I can't talk either. I then decide that everytime he gets me too mad to contain myself I will drink so I can't talk. He then goes on about how I'm not a team player and how I'm selfish, yada yada yada...so I drink. He then starts having everyone hand in thier proposed schedules and says something about consequences to me for not doing what I was told, blah blah blah...so I drink. He then gets to the voting phase and I'm thinking why are they doing this for him. If they had all said no then he could not have proceded with this thing. (drink). He tell them, "Just vote how you would want it as if he is not here." (yep drink). He gets disappointed when everyone votes for the schedule that does not effect my schedule. I smile knowing the leads are voting for me. Then I think he is an SOB for doing this and I'm glad that they did not let him win totally. He concludes the meeting and I'm at the end of my 20 oz drink. I leave thinking just in time. He looks at me as if he won the day and I laugh is his face as I leave. The team won because he didn't get his wish that day. He still hasn't gotten that wish. I have a choice always.

My friend, you are the perfect jobschmob "Damn the Man" candidate. Ever notice how easy it is to mess with a boss that has the I.Q. of a piece of string.
