My former boss is hartless and the only true love in his life is "his bottom line". My story starts in Mesa, Arizona. I applied for a job and I got it. Off all the places I applied, this was the only one that responded. When I interview, I was offered a starting wage of $ 6.00/hr. this inspite that it was a Medical Laboratory. I always wondered why it was so low and time would reveal it. The starting wage for everyworker was $ 6.00/hr. Primarly women were hired because they did not complain of the wages or complained the least. While there, I came down with 2 health problems. Both were not connected with my work. The first problem was that I came down with psoriasis. The doctor who 1st treated me for psoriasis misdiagnosed it. He refered me to a Dr. at the Mayo Clinic. The Dr. prescribed UV treatment and Medicinal lotions. The UV treatments were done at the Mayo Clinic, about 30 miles round trip and lasted about 2 hours. I got the OK from my immediate supervisor to come to work 2 hours earlier on days when I would be gone 2 hours for treatment. My psoriasis responded nicely. The second health problem began 5 years earlier when I broke my arm. I always figured it had healed until I accidently hit my arm while at work. Several weeks went by and the pain was still there. I made an appointment to see a Bone Doctor about this problem. He recommended an X-Ray and took the X-Ray to the Dr. and to my horror. The broken arm 5 years earlier had not healed right and the bones healed crucked. Shortly after this I was laid off. I was never told why I was laidoff. I presented a bill from the UV treatments for about $ 3500. My workers Ins. refused to pay for it. At first the "public defenders" lawyer refused to touch it. After I streatched the truth, they agreed to defend me and I only paid about $50 from my pocket. Even the initial pain in my arm was started at work, my workers INS refused to pay for it. Shortly after this, I was laid off. It did not occur to me until several years after the event that I was "laid off" because it would drive up my employers INS rates. This inspite my employers income was a 7 FIGURE INCOME.
