Counting, Counting, Counting

Although it's been a few years, I thought I would share this with all. I worked for a Man and Wife owned small company for a while. I didn't notice at first and was told that when we make long distant phone calls we should contact the oporator after the call and ask for time and cost and to make a daily log of who, what, when and were and how long and how much. I always thought this was a way to see how many calls you made each hour. Mr. W told me that Mrs W made sure they were billing the right amount. Yea right, You know and I know my thoughts on this were truer and that she wanted to know how much of thier money I was spending.
The second part, Mrs. W would keep a long on when I arrived how long I took to get coffee, how long it took me to start making calls. Ok, I could handle this for a while but when I went to hose down the porcelean one day she commented on the frequency and how long it was taking me. Someone tell me this lady wasn't the female dog satan from hell. How did she get anything done hereself, unless her job was to keep all this info.

MICROMANAGEMENT SUCKS!!! I absolutely hate that kind of garbage. If you allow an employee to do his/her job and let that employee know that he/she is valuable you'll get much better performance. Easy equation for all the micromanaging dolts out there. training+honesty+integrity/compassion= high performance which in turn= $$$$$.

You should have reported how much toilet tissue you used while in the bathroom. How much water you used when washing your hands...etc. I had a micromanager once come over my shoulder when I was programming. She actually started pointing to the screen and making "suggestions". WHAT!? I had a degree in programming and 20 years experience and she was just hired and making suggestions!? I simply slid my keyboard to her and said "Here you go!" and sat with my hands on the desk. She turned red and walked off...
