Tick Tock

Have you ever had a boss that emphasises his glare at his watch each time employees come and go... and the same boss watches the parking lot from the 4th floor window and comments on cars that leave previous to 5pm? If you have, I feel your pain...

At my job, sometimes all the managers can be seen "lingering" in the halls around 4:30 or so. They like to take notice of anyone leaving before 5pm. They never say anything, but they are watching. I always take the most direct path to walk right past them on my way. No dodging for me. I believe in teaching others how to treat you. If you show them you could care less and you have your own schedule, they leave you alone.

NICE, Twizzler! I eally believe it is up to the workers to change things. You really do "teach" people how to treat you as they say. And idiot bosses are "teaching" us how to treat them...like idiots!!!

No dodging for me either. My personal favorites are the reporters who go to the manager and tell them exactly when you arrive and leave. If they have an issue with me, I'm sitting 20 feet away...

OK, I admit it. I dodge. Sad, but true. And yes, it pisses me off that I have to find a way past these people, but I'd rather have them notice me gone later and wonder if I been gone 5 minutes of 50 minutes. I just don't get why it matter what time I leave. As long as I put in my 40 then I should be good to go. They're only paying me for 40. I'm not gonna be one of the poor saps who gets paid for 40 but works 50. To them I say, helloooo...If we both get paid the same, and you're working more, you're actually getting paid LESS!

It is so nice to know I'm not alone on this issue.

In our dept.we submit our time worked in triplicate by: entering it online, punching a timeclock and filling out a form. When anyone inquires as to why this is necessary, the reply from our boss is always the same."They want it that way"

I had a boss who would wait by the door if I walked in any number of seconds after 8:30. One time she stood there, glared at me, pointed at the clock and half-bellowed, "You're thirty seconds late! Don't be late again!!!!" Ugh. I swear people like this have nothing better to do than throw their proverbial weight around....
