One year later

Just wanted to chime in on some good news I heard recently. Over a year ago I left my job due to the fact that they were outsourcing most of their service related functions (HR, Finance, IT, etc). They had a roadmap to cut the company employees by 80% in 3-5 years and rely solely on outside (and mostly offshore) resources. Well it has been about a year into their master plan and rumor has it the place is on a downward spiral. Ever since most of us quit and moved on to better jobs/companies, no projects or work has gotten done. Bare minimum maintenance tasks are all that the new offshore resources can handle. And when they do get a good outside resource in that is actually capable of doing quality project work, they usually end up quiting the sourcing firm themselves in a few months to move on to a better company!

I've heard the company is actually starting to call ex-employees up and ask if they would like to return. As noble of an effort I think this is, the company is still not changing their direction or plan for near total outsourcing. Apparently they like the fact that they save so much money to get nothing done. Yeah, news flash... not doing any work is definitely going to be cheaper than doing work.

At least the stock market has not been blind to their downward spiral, as their share price continues to drop. Most likely they will be bought out before too long.

You know, it's really evident that outsourcing doesn't work when you're on the phone with one of them and you can't understand a word that "Ahkmed" is saying.

(folding hands and twiddling thumbs) Excellent! I like to hear that companies that have let American labor go for cheaper foreign labor are failing. Excellent (twiddle thumbs) excellent! May the devil know they are failing one hour before they do!
