So what if it's snowing up to the windows? I'm In CHARGE!

When I was an EKG tech around age 21, I worked for this Iraqi doctor who was muslim. Now, I'm not bashing muslims, but middle eastern men have this thing about wielding power over women, and this man, though generous, benevolent and kind, still held to this practice! It was probably his only vice, but it was very aggravating when it surfaced.
It was a very icy cold winter workday, and it had begun snowing early in the afternoon. It covered EVERYTHING, and was quite severe for a mid-atlantic storm. Anyone who lives in places like chicago or buffalo can easily thumb their noses at two feet of snow, but for us marylanders, it's a big deal. Our patients had begun calling in the early morning to reschedule thier appointments or cancel. By 2pm, we had no one left to see. All that was left was general office stuff, which we finished in an hour's time. Ok, 3pm. All the work is done! Doc, can we go home?
Nope.
One of our receptionists lived in a neighboring state. She had a loooong drive home. She wanted to leave early before the weather got worse. Who can blame her? Did he let her leave?
Nope.
He let no one leave until 4:30 (with no good reason!). Granted, it was a half-hour early, but we could have made better headway home by then--Especially those with a long drive!
That poor receptionist was so livid she went into his office and shut the door, and screamed at him for about thirty minutes. BALLSY.
And he didn't even fire her! That woman had some serious guts! I really admired her courage. I was still too timid at that age to ask people to quit picking on me for no reason in the office. Luckily, I've done some growing, but I don't think even at this point in life I'd be able to do something like that! wow.

INFIDEL AMERICAN WOMAN!! You should feel lucky to even have job. In my country women have to milk camel, peel dates, iron tent, darn prayer rugs, shine saber just for one drakmah. Sincerely, Osama Ben Scrotum

I knew of a woman, who was a legal secretary. This woman was big and overweight. She looked scary, and she used it to intimidate people. Everyone thought that she should be fired. She was lazy, too. She used to scream at her boss, a lawyer, and very loudly. She literally pushed her boss around. You could see his nervousness being around her. Secretly, though, I think that this man liked being treated badly, because I can't understand any other reason that a boss would put up with sh** like that!

If I may repeat myself, ALL of our patients cancelled or rescheduled their appointments. If they did not want to travel in severe weather, it makes sense to close up shop and head home as well, before things get worse. Ours was an OFFICE, not a hospital, VanillaGinger. We didn't deal with emergencies. That's what 911 and the ER are for.

WOW, the NERVE of some people! Actually wanting to stay open to SEE PATIENTS, no matter how late they might be from the weather? And how unfair was he when he made the staff STAY to ASSIST him! Boy that takes a lot of gumption! Get a life.
