Oh man, I heard the funniest thing from a former co-worker the other day. We both worked for a boss who really thought she was the best thing that ever happened to a company we worked for. When they hired her, her whole attitude was like "Thank Goodness I made it here in time to save you!" She singlehandedly destroyed a whole department in less than two years. After EVERYONE quit or left for another department, she applied for a corporate mangement position at headquarters and was given a "token" interview. She was so confident she had the position she told all her neighbors (one of which knew my coworker) that she would be moving to [state name where corporate is located] because she would be moving up. She even put her house up for sale!
