So for about the last month I had been out on a temporary assignment which was supposed to continue through the end of December. This is how my day went yesterday: I get a phone call from my agency at about 7:30 am telling me that I've been fired from my current assignment. What the f**k?! The first story was that there was a personal conflict of interests. What is that supposed to mean? So I asked my agent to find out more specifically what happened.
A few hours go by, and I go meet with my agent. Oh and it gets better- now there's a new story. This company said I got fired because of being consistently late to work. Consistently. This is complete news to me. Now to be fair I was late to work one time, by an entire 5 minutes.
And they told the agency I was consistently 15 minutes late. So I got to have a lovely conversation with my agent about punctuality. I didn't really mind so much losing this job as it was pretty boring, but to outright lie to my agency is just plain mean. It's bad enough being fired a week before Christmas.
What pisses me off is that these people didn't have the balls to fire me in person, just to flat out say we're getting rid of you because we don't like you. Merry Christmas and thanks for covering our ass the last month, don't come back.

a similar thing happened to me. Back in '01 I worked for a really nice guy at a mail boxes store in Greenville,SC. I moved down to Augusta, Ga with my girlfriend. He called the store down there and asked if they were hiring anyone. They said sure we need a new full time guy. I took the job (this was late Nov of '01). I worked there from Dec. '03-Dec. 26th. The day after xmas the fat owner lady said that she was wrong and they didn't need a full timer just someone to do about 10 hrs a week?!!! I quit. they just used me to cover the busy holiday season. Little did she know that I was good friends with her brother who was my neighbor (I found this out years later). He told me the other day she does that every xmas time. She puts an ad in for to hire people for perm jobs then recants and fires the employee or offers them less hrs. Crap!

Same thing happened to my husband, through the summer a few years ago. They needed him to cover supervisors who were taking their vacations, then all of a sudden, in the fall, there was a "problem". Disgusting jerks-I agree, karma will catch up with them. Sooner than later, I hope. Sorry you had to go through this, as well. Seems like ethics is going out the window in the corporate world- but I sure hope that people begin to notice-right and wrong are not just ambiguous concepts. People DO reap what they sow.

How about stop crying and get a real job? Someone with a brain would have figured out that temping is a path to nowhere. No wonder you get picked on, I would have iced your ass on day 1.

I'm sorry to hear about this. It's obvious that the company was only using you, and they hurt your professional image by lying about you. There's not really much that you can do, but just know that karma is an awesome force. It will come back to them. What comes around, goes around...
