The anti-midas touch

My boss likes to try and "contribute" by taking on small development tasks in his free time. While his efforts are appreciated, the results are almost always lackluster. The rest of us end up constantly having to drop everything and fix some production issue he caused.

I used to find it comical, but now I just get pissed off every time it happens.

Should I be telling his boss about these incidents? Thanks for any advice.

You've got a high-maintenance boss! That's who he is. If you go to his boss, you're stepping on your boss's toes, and if your boss finds out that it was you who said something, he can make your life miserable. His boss might tell you that he won't tell your boss who said this to him, but he probably will. It's a boss-thing; management types tend to stick together. Just stay on your toes, that's about all you can do.
