THE DEPRESSION. The total, insessant "what the heck am I going to do with my life now" headache. Oh yeah and the "what the hell did I go to school for if I can't apply what I got my degree in in my own country?" mind boggler. Bitter? Me? Yeah, maybe.

SouthernProgrammer,Careful what your look for! Even Goverment,State,Federal and City jobs are being outsourced. Fair warning and advice: Do a lot of research and look before leaping. I worked for a municipality and saw one department after another outsourced. Custodians first, certain clericals second. Even paramedics&fire have been outsourced in spots. You will earn less, the health insurance sucks. The frustration can be intolerable and you cannot ever complain or ask a simple question or you will get the whistleblower treatment with less legal rights. Make sure you have a strong union that will really fight for you since some employers specialize in driving sick, injured and minus+plus age 40 employees out. Not discouraging you but a good, safe workplace is hard to find. Just wanted to let you know some pitfalls. Good job hunting.

Wow C, I didn't know that! Just goes to show you can't be sure of anything these days..
yup that would be me (11/15/2005)
how much my ass hurts from all the times I had to bend over and get screwed during the whole outsourcing time. Yeah, that stands out the most.

I have never been outsourced but still get concerned about it. As soon as the current situations in my life allow it I shall look for a good Government job (State or Federal) as a hedge against outsourcing. Even if I have to take a pay cut I will do it.
