My boss has always been anti-outsourcing for years. Every conversation that comes up about it, he always throws in his opinion that he will never agree to outsourcing as long as he is there.
Well it appears the times are starting to change. Recently he started floating propaganda around to everyone about how he still is against it, but how he must at least consider it an option now moving forward. He goes on to say how everyone is now responsible for their jobs by using both work time and personal time to keep themselves sharp and grow their skills, otherwise they may be targets for outsourcing. So you are telling me that I need to spend my free time now worrying about outsourcing too?
I like the world better before when a job was 9 to 5, and you could go home at night and forget about it until the next day.

UH-OH watch out! Danger Will Robinson! This is exactly how it went down at my old company. This is the first red flag. I would recommend being proactive and start getting your resume together so when (and not if) it happens you'll be ready to go. Keep your future within your control (as much as that's possible anyway) Good luck and you have a right to be ticked!

Sounds like something has come up (such as he needs to cut costs...or else) which changed his mind. That stinks...again I wonder why management is never outsourced...

This is classic. Sorry to hear you're going through this. From what I hear, it doesn't get easier. They started looking into this at my place too and it straight up depresses me. Hopefully I'll be outta here before they can say "sorry but we have sent your job to Bangalore".

I guess in any job we all must be alert and prepared for the possibility of being let go. I wish you luck, hopefully it won't end like that for you. I went through outsourcing last year, and though it wasn't fun, the good news is for me the ending wasn't so bad.

How typical is this! Where I work they have a nice habit of dangling sales bonuses or incentive money in front of us like carrots. Surprise, surprise when the bonuses never materialize. I was working on one account where the project leader told us he was putting together a large incentive package that included a paid trip to hawaii when (not if) we met our goals. 10 of us busted our butts to make things happen, our eyes on the "carrot", lo and behold the account got dismantled and all our work was for nothing. Not a single word or apology from the PM about the stupid incentive package was ever uttered to us after that fiasco.
