Can someone who is in charge of Corp. America (or Corp. World for that matter), please pass a law stating that all companies should honor a work from home schedule. Even one day a week would be awesome!

I think management is afraid because they can't watch us. They think there'll be anarchy...chaos! I work from home on occasion and I tel you I get more done and work harder because I feel as if I have more to prove. Management...are you listening?? I am about 1/4th as productive in the office as I am at home. AND I am happier employee on those days because I don't have to commute. I am less stressed and can spend more time with my family.

A good place to start would be to petition the Department of Labor, start a petition, get signatures, talk to a politician saying that you will tell all of your friends and everyone who will listen just how wonderful he or she is and that they should be in office, elected, promoted, or whatever the case is on their political agenda. Politicians are always happy to help the voting public ;)

Some manangement is "Stalkers R Us" They go through withdrawal syptoms if they can't watch as every waking or sleeping moment.

A limited observation: we had a work at home policy for special assignments and rarely other circumstances (mild injuries, sick kids, bad weather, etc). Who complained most? Coworkers. Then we had this problem with blurring the lines about when you could call, drop stuff off, the spouse and kids objecting to use of private phone or computer for work...the string of mostly valid complaints never ended. Maybe some companies have had more success, it sure was a nightmare here. There was some sort of problem when people tried to claim a home office part-time for tax purposes but owned their own equipment and used it for other things. And then the liability insurance for loss and workers' comp got involved. Other experiences out there?

That's lame... co-workers complaining are because they are miserable and don't want to take advantage of WFH themselves. We had a women like that, that complained because she couldn't get high-speed at her house, so she really couldn't work from home. Somethin' funny though, this is the same women that admitted picking her dog crap up on the one day she did work from home.

It wasn't they didn't want to work at home: had more to do with communication problems like scheduling conference calls, meeting deadlines, etc. from coworkers' perspective. We wasted too much time trying to referee and smooth irritations. Then there were those other things like IRS, insurance, demands for office buying extra laptops and installing lines into private homes. Employer didn't cause tax problem (or zoning issue in one case) but it made a big mess. Really big mess. Insults exchanged, no witness to help the offended or clear the innocent. I am still bummed out we lost this option, but it didn't make people happier, more productive or more cooperative; just the opposite. Your point is excellent: everyone remembers if it sounds like someone abused the option.
