I interviewed for a sales position for a vaccuum cleaner company and got the job. On my first day on the job, I learned about their scary daily morning ritual. I had to join a circle of people and sing their "go get 'em" song. They were all clapping and swaying back and forth while they sang. It was so bizarre, it was like some backwoods religious revival experience! The only thing that was missing were the snakes. I quit the same day. There was no way I could see myself singing this every morning and believing it...over vaccuum cleaners! I was angry too that they never once mentioned this bizarro practice in any of the interviews!

Sounds like a cult day camp! I've always found it bizarre that Wal-Mart does much the same, and right in the middle of the shop floor! I've actually heard one of these where a manager was talking about "not letting the customers know about our porduct stocking procedures..." whereupon I shouted over, "you mean ignorant customers like ME?" Congrats on getting out quick!

Ooops! I meant PRODUCT. Though I'm sure they have a pork duct policy as well...

I think this is more common than you might think. Ever go to a Cold Stone Creamery? The employees sing songs (by force, I suspect) while they scoop your ice cream. Ughck. Brings back nightmares of kindergarten, peed pants and Farmer in the Dell gone horribly wrong...

Let me guess...you were "the cheese stands alone". (me too dammit!)

Yo confessor, I think I've actually seen the pork ducts at Walmart. They're in the back, behind sporting goods. ;-)
