My dad is the King of MAJOR excuses.. he skips the petty little "vertigo" excuses and goes straight for major surgery.
Yes, he's faked knee surgery. He wanted the time off. They were too busy to give it to him and he's a really good/hard worker. So a couple weeks in advance, he starts limping. Tells everyone he's having knee surgery.
Then he's out for a week or so. Comes back into the office with a CANE! I love him so...

Ah yeah, that's insurance fraud (regarding disability), not to mention it is people like your father which make it difficult for people with real problems to get the service they are requesting. Your dad may not realize it, but his company probably recouped costs based on his 'vacation' time, which makes this fraud. Someday your dad will have a real heart attack, and then who will be laughing!!!!??????

Calm down! He didn't go to the hospital or anything - he didn't get any money out of the company - all he did was get some vacation time out of it that he couldn't get before...
