Monkey

First - let me clarify that I have referred to my boss as a monkey for the past 2+ years. No reason, she just is a monkey. (No I don't call her that to her face) I'm her executive assistant, she's a VP.

Story #1:
Me: Hi Monkey, Can I take next Monday off to go on a field trip with my 10 year old daughter? (never asked for this before)
Monkey: Hi Minion, no, I have a golf tournament that day. I need you here to check my emails and take any calls I might receive. (mind you, in the past 3 years, I have never once had access to her email, nor taken any of her phone calls)

So I came in Monday and didn't need to ONCE check her emails or take any calls.
(the above names have been changed to protect the dumb and the innocent)

Story #2 - email between Monkey and myself - trying to schedule a staff meeting:

From Me: Do you think we'll go for a full hour? You show "out of office" on Monday beginning at 3:30. Would a 3-4pm staff meeting be impossible for you?

Her Reply: You booked my flight, and should be able to figure out when I need to leave. If I’m not available, pick a different time.

Maybe I took that the wrong way. But I honestly feel that if I had been standing in her gigantic office, I would have poo flung at me.

I've had some good ones over the past 3.5 years of working with her. I'll come up with more to entertain.

I started out like you did, inquiring that she wanted. So to avoid the snippy attitude, I started making decisions on her behalf. Then she would ask me why I didn't consult with her first! GRRRR. You can't win! I would transfer if you can. I will never work a woman boss again even if it was the last job and I was down to my last nickel. I'll work beneath my skills until I find a job with a male supervisor.
