My boss recently came up with a new plan for having us submit our work status reports. In the past, we would submit a monthly report to him. No big deal, took about 20 minutes to review our major accomplishments for the month, and what we had planned for the future months. Well now he has us doing DAILY status reports to him updating him on everything we do doing the day. He said if we are lucky, this "new" status reporting can replace our monthly reports. Lucky? I think he must have taken a class on how to micro-manage. Lucky us.

Yeah, BPFH, good idea! "9:01 A.M: arrived at work. 9:04 logged on to network. 9:10 went to get coffee and talk about my weekend with Larry. 9:45 sat down and entered expense report 9:50 took a bathroom break from all the coffee"....LOL

control issues! For fun, you should mark down how many times you went to the bathroom during the day. What a waste of time - waste of your time entering the report and a waste of his reading it.

If he needs that many status reports, he either doesn't know what you are doing or doesn't understand. Both scenarios are dangerous

Sounds like he doesn't have an idea of what you do!

Hmm. "Be careful what you wish for; you may get it." Or, in other words, if that's what he wants, give it to him. In minute detail. (And don't forget to tell him how much time you spent telling him how you spent your time.)
