Yesterday I quit my job and my boss got a big smile on his face and said "That's great!" and then he realized what he said and corrected himself and sid "uh...I mean...um I'm sorry to hear that." so I said "why did you say that was great?!?!?!" and he says "well I was going to have to lay you off today so I am happy you made it easier for me." So, thinking about the severance I could have had/should have had I asked him to please lay me off instead and forget that I originally came in to quit. So he agrees to do it under the condition that I buy him this pizza that he likes off the internet with my first severance check. Small price to pay I say! So not only did I come home happy that I quit...but with a surprise bonus in severance! Cha-ching!! I feel like I won the lottery!

That's neat, sounds like you had a decent boss. What made you quit?

Ooops! I guess I should have elaborated. Yes, my boss was amazing (a rare breed) but I quit because I had gotten a new job because I had known my position (companywide) was on the chopping block and that it was a matter of time before I was laid off. I had thought it would be closer to January, but I was clearly mistaken. I have three weeks now before I start my new job. Since I was "laid off" yesterday they asked me to leave the same day so now I'm at home being paid severance for my little holiday.

better than the HR in flo town. People have come in to give their 2 weeks notice and been escorted out by security.
