In the late 1990's, I went for a job interview at a large law firm. I was applying for a secretarial position. I had to take a typing test, a vocabulary test, a legal vocabulary test and a punctuation test.
I passed all of the tests -- except, when I went to take the typing test, I thought I did really well. I was so nervous, my hands were off by one on the keys. My typing looked like this -- yjod od ejsy ,u yu[omh ;pplrf ;olr/
Anyway, the woman who was giving me the typing test said, "I know you're nervous. Here, I'll let you take the test over again. Nobody has to know."
Needless to say, I got the job, and I was very grateful. A year or so later, the typing test lady got a better job with better pay. I was so glad for her. She deserved it!

Sounds like she was a good judge of character, too. When only immediate appearances count, phonies and charlatans will rule the workplace.
