My boss refuses to hire anyone but people she knows. We are currently hiring for a position. There are 4 of us in the group plus her. We all agreed that it would be a group interview effort and then a group vote at the end of each interview and ultimately at the hiring phase. She has deliberately thrown away 5 perfectly good resumes so we wouldn't see them (we found them in her trash because we suspected it and looked). Then she miraculously appears with two resumes that she suposedly got from HR, but surprise! they both worked at her old company! Gee, lady, what a coincidence. We're going to HR about this. The thing is, we never thought she was like that. I guess processes like this really bring out true colors and demonstrate to what lengths people will go to get what they want. I can't wait to see her face when HR busts her.

This seems to be so prevalent in management. It's like cockroaches...when one gets in the others follow. I have seen shifts in an entire management structure because one cockroach was let in. In my experience this is grossly practiced with ex-PWC people.
