Microsoft and IBM want to open doors to more overseas workers

I recently read an interesting article about outsourcing. It was saying that IBM and Microsoft (among others) were petitioning to the government to increase the foreign visa quota to allow them to hire more overseas developers citing a shortage of technical resources. The companies were also spending more time at colleges trying to get more kids to go into software since there has been a decline students majoring in computer science lately.
The article went on to say that there is no shortage of talent, there are tens of thousands of layed off IT workers right now looking for work. The problem is the companies only want cheap labor willing to work 80 hour weeks for nothing (ie - overseas workers and kids fresh out of college).
Well the college kids are wising up (by not going into software fields) and the overseas folks are getting more expensive. Their pool of cheap labor will dry up someday. Then they will come crawling back to all the IT workers they layed off... =)
