I once worked at a convenience store for an insane store manager. She was very open about how she socialized with certain employees (the one's who got day shifts and weekends off). Basically she couldn't make any friends of her own, so she would be friends with all her subordinates. If you were in her good graces, you got invited to go to the club with her on Saturday night, (thus getting Saturday night off). If some of her little group were scheduled to work on Sunday morning, it was okay for them to come in hours late because they had a hangover, as long as they had been out with her. God forbid, anyone was late or needed the day off for reasons not relating to her social life.
So, she decides that she wants to have a Mary Kay party, but that wasn't enough, so she turns it into a slumber party. Now she had had complaints about treating her employees unfairly, so she solved this by inviting all the female employees of the store. To a slumber party. I swear. Now I'm pragmatic enough that I went, because I don't turn down the bosses invite ever. This was a full-out little girl slumber party with Twister and scary movies and going out to toilet paper her boyfriend's ex-girlfriend's house.
Well, couple of weeks later she heard some of her little buddies making fun of her lame-ass party, and actually called a meeting to chide us for being so rude when she had extended such hospitality to us. Oh my God! Her boss, the district supervisor was there, and he looked confused the whole time until he finally asked, "I'm sorry, but you invited the cashiers over to a slumber party at your house?" I heard later that she got reprimanded for favoritism for inviting some (the females) and not the males too.

I cannot believe she wasn't fired. I would have fired her faster than you can say Peter Piper. Does upper management know she was T.P.'ing the new girlfriend's house with her co-workers? Lucky the cops didn't catch anyone and arrested for vandalism and trespassing. And shame on this manager for not inviting the male employee's. Please lets open our doors to a Sexual Harassment claim. Sorry sweetie. Yes this person you speak of sounds like she needs to return to pre-school or something, but what's scarier is your District Manager and anyone else above her. Your place of employment is an employment lawyer's dream.

Um, this just sounds a bit bizarre to me. I can't believe how blatant this woman was about her favoritism of certain employees! I think she's a wack-job... And a lawsuit waiting to happen.

This is good indicator of someone who is very immature! I have witnessed this where I have worked and it usually does not end well (someone usually ends up bawling that no one likes them). This also could indicate someone with serious codependency issues as well or just a plain drama queen.

This is unbelievable behavior from an adult! I agree, what a total whack job! I also found it hilarious. If I had been at the party I would have had to call someone sober and sane to come over and verify that it really was happening. TWILIGHT ZONE!
