In a recent blog, I wrote how a resort I worked for and left because of the politics had been sold and that former clique-buddies were now turning on one another.
One of these buddies ran the Set-up and Banquets department of the hotel. She was frequently seen embracing clients and generally flitting around in the tightist pair of black stretch pants possible. Hey, if you've got it flaunt it, but she dropped the ball all too often, leaving others to pick up the pieces.
In a recent meeting with the new owners, a number of subjects were covered, but a friend told me that any questions about the hotel were answered with "we just don't know yet". This is a polite way of saying that each and every person and position was being evaluated.
Sure enough, yesterday a dozen members of Set-up and banquets including Ms. Tightpants were unceremonially let go. In addition, it was announced that strict guidelines regarding work apparel and interaction with guests would be the focus of yet another meeting.
If I had told anyone of these folks even six months ago that this might happen, they'd have laughed at me.
