Late one nite. A table in the resturant stood up, and
was asking for help. I looked over the bar, and saw a
man slumped forward in his chair. I ran around the bar and
started C.P.R. He was not breathing. We had the hostess call 911. Me and a customer laid him on the floor. I had to force, his mouth open, and see if the was an obstuction.
I had already tried the heimlich thing. Taking turns we
actually got him back!!! And he was able to stand up.
The ambulance took him away. I said nothing and went
back to work. I learned C.P.R in the army and actually
have used it 3 times now at work. I have never been thanked. My boss was not happy I left my post and was very
sarcastic. I was so shock up I said he must have had a
Heart malfuntion. But I repeated myself. He just ripped into me. "I heard you the first time, do you think Im
a idiot"!!!!??? I wake up just shaking, this man was so young. I have night mare of trying to save him. Without my boss yelling at me, to get back to work! Dottie

UGH! That's horrible. You should be commended on your actions and very proud of yourself. That is really very admirable! What's more...you may have saved your boss a lawsuit! What a way to run a business...that is really sad. I guess he just wants insensitive zombie drink pourers with no applicable life saving skills working for him. Just a thought---perhaps he is a miserable slug who is jealous that you were able to react quickly and save a man's life?

You are a true American hero. You helped save another's life and it does not get any better than that. If this should happen to your boss, do you think he would want you to leave your post; bet he would. Don't let his bitterness for life affect your high integrity. You are a winner!

Dottie, your boss' behavior is outrageous. I guess your boss would have preferred that you just ignore and NOT help the patron and then if he dies -- how would THAT look for your boss? The guy's family might have made some sort of liability claim against your boss for failing to come to his aid while in your boss' establishment! Good for you for using your skills in a crisis. Just take the high road and focus on doing your job well ... and start keep your eyes open for a NEW job working for someone who has a heart and better values. :)

Dottie: Just think, darling, you were the ONE human being in that room! - And also think, that because of you, the nearly dead man will go on to have a life, and maybe get married and father children and save lives also...i.e. think of the great thread of life! You were chosen to be a blessed part of it. There was an angel in the room when this man started to die, and the angel's name was "Dottie". - Be proud and grateful. Best, Victoria
