Regarding that "7 deadly recruiters" blog entry in the sidebar: I recently got my own!
So, when I was job-hunting back in June, I talked to this one lady who said, "your resume is great, be in touch" and then never called, and never called, and never called. So, I figured, "OK, she probably didn't find anything for me," and moved on. Ended up getting a job on my own.
Recently, I had gotten a call from her on my cell and a message on my home Yahoo mail, to which I replied that I was now permanently employed and would not be needing her help any longer.
Little did I know that upon checking my HOME voicemail, she had left me about a dozen messages in one day, probably prior to my Yahoo mail.
The first message, at 9:05 a.m., went something like, "Cynic, this is Janie from XX Agency. I have something I'm REEEEEEEALLY excited about that I think you'd be GREAT for. I was so worried I wouldn't be able to find anything but I did. Please give me a call ASAP." (Note that I was at work and had no way to know that my home phone was ringing. I generally check my home messages when I get home, since most people will call my cell in emergencies.)
Okay.
The second message, at 11:15 a.m., went something like, "Cynic, where ARE you? I have a position for you. Give me a call! Tha-aaanks!"
The third message, at noon, was cropped down to "Hey. Cynic. Janie. Call me, like, now."
The fourth message, at 3 p.m.: "Cynic! Hey! Call me! Where the hell are you and why aren't you returning my calls???"
The fifth message at 4 p.m. I simply deleted, so I'm not sure what it said.
I'm happy to get calls on my resume, but Geezus, don't these people realize that not everyone is sitting home desperately by the phone? She was actually PO'ED AT ME for not being home. Not even the worst of my college ex's has ever been that much of a stalker.

Dizzam. I had something similar happen. This place even took a URINE SAMPLE (most embarrassing moment in a temp agency ever) to test for drugs. I called to check in & the guy I called for never returned my call. I found permanent placement & heard from the agency 2 months LATER telling me to call for a good job. I just ignored the messages. It's their loss.
