I work at Comcast cable's customer service deptartment in GA. This is the worst job ever. Answering calls from some of the stupidest humans I've ever spoke with. I got a question for anyone. Tell me if this is legal. We are supposed to have a dress code. No sneakers, jeans and T shirts. No one follows it. I stopped following and about 2 weeks later I got a disciplinary write up. I asked why am I getting one and not everyone else. My supervisor told me I should worry about myself. He then went on some long winded speach about team work and personal responsiblity. He told me in so many words that if a) the head managers like you or b) you have very good stats (like sales and 100% adherence (which would me you can never take a piss break))then you don't have to follow the rules. What a pile of crap.

Legal, I doubt it, you could make a stink out of it by asking where it is written that if you are "liked" you do not have to follow the dress code. You could report them to a workers union but I doubt it is worth the trouble. It sounds like the manager who called you in is not listened to by existing team members and so is simply using you as a whipping boy. I can imagine that if you chose to ignore the dress code one of two things will happen: A:) You will get fired or B:) They will ignore the violation knowing full well they have trouble keeping people in that thankless job.
