A freind of mine told me about this incident. Her husband quit his former job to work for the US Postal service. He has been at the postal office as a mail handler for close to 90 days. The huband has another week before the 90 days are up. Well he is very tired and the postal depot wehre he works has given him some pretty crazy hours. He has been 5 minutes or so late. The husbands immediate supervisor has called the wife at home several times at times like 1 to 2 in the morning. He has informed her that he is going to fire the husband. When no one picks up(at the home he will continue to call until someone does.
The supervisor has made some other inappropriate comments to the wife. What should they do?

I say first turn off the ringer and then have the phone go to an answering machine. That way when he leaves his threatening messages (because he will) they will have it all recorded so if they do involve the police they have the evidence.

Very weird. Sounds like this supervisor has some issues. I would tread lightly, but perhaps have the husband bring this up to HR. Threats and advances like that are not acceptable practice in the workplace.

I think this is harrassment and the poice should be notified (through a non-emergency number). Calling someone repeatedly like that "until someone answers" is a form of stalking and harassment and should not be tolerated. Not to mention the inappropriate remarks to the wife! If the person is not comfortable involving the police yet, they could wait and see if it stops when the husband finishes his stay at the post depot and then if it doesn't, escalate it to the police. At any rate, in the meantime, DISCONNECT THE PHONE.
