My x-boss is/was a COP WANNA BE. He cannot seem to get on a department. One hot day in August, the Gate Officer called stating that a car ran the gate and was driving poorly. The Sergeant was dispatched to locate the suspect. The Gate called again, and I went out to assist the SGT. This left my boss in the office. The SGT located the suspect on our large complex and we stopped him. When we approached the suspect, he reeked of alcohol. I radioed the suspect's story as to why he was on the complex to my boss to be checked out. When the story could not be verified, I radioed to have the police and a tow truck, as the car had a very flat front tire, called. My COP WANNA BE boss, radioed back to have the suspect change his tire and be escorted off the complex. I went to office and saw it was empty. My boss was down the hall, in earshot of the phones, talking to a client manager. The client manager asked me about the situation and then told my boss to call the police. My boss went into the office and I went back to the scene. Upon returning to the scene, I was informed that the suspect had no spare tire. I radioed my boss and he stated "The call has been made." I thought to myself; Finally things are getting done correctly. I was then radioed to come back to the office. As I was leaving, the suspect got back into his car and fell asleep. Upon arriving at the office, my boss and another person went out to relieve the SGT at the scene. About a half hour later, my boss radioed asking about the police. I called and spoke to the same dispatcher as my COP WANNA BE boss. The dispatcher stated that they were told to go to another business in the area by the first caller. I explained the situation and our location to the dispatcher. The cop arrived one hour after the suspect entered the complex and 45 minutes after the suspect fell asleep. The first thing the cop did was to give a Breath Alcohol Test to the suspect. The suspect blew at.315; the legal limit is .08. The cop then radioed the arrest and description of vehicle to his dispatch. A vehicle matching the suspect's vehicle was involved in an accident with some bushes about 8 miles from us approximately an hour and one half earlier. The cop checked the front of the suspect's vehicle and found leaves and branches in the grill. The cop was happy to have found the APB vehicle and gotten a drunk off the streets. Rememeber, this suspect had been in his vehicle for over an hour and a half and still blew a .315. The suspect and suspect vehicle were taken off the complex. My boss came back to the office, stated "We all did a good job", and asked if I had made a call. I replied no as I was waiting for the full details. He stated he would make the call and went into his cubical. He spoke loud enough for me to overhear his side of the conversation. He laughed about how the police went to the wrong business, but failed to mention that he did not use his authority, or common sense, to call the police to begin with. He then exited his cubical and asked me "Who saw the person (suspect) first?" I replied the sergeant. He looked at me disappointed, went back into his cubical, picked up his stuff, and left the complex. I thought to myself: "WE" did a good job. The Gate Officer, the Sergeant, and I did a good job. You did not call the police on your own. When you did call them (the police), somehow they got the wrong address. AND all you did was sit babysitting a sleeping suspect. You want to be a cop and you are going to let a drunk driver back onto the road. What does it matter who saw the suspcet first as long as he was stopped safely and did no damage to the complex? You're such an a_ _! I now have another reason that my x-boss could not get on a police department; no common sense.
