Switching PC's

So after four years with the same PC my boss finally convinces me to get a new one. He needs to burn up his budget so he had me get a really nice laptop so I can work from home when needed.

Now, I REALLY hate switching PC's because, as a programmer, it takes me a very long time to get the patches for my compilers installed and get the system working just like I want it to. My old computer is a 1 GHZ system with a gig of ram and my test box is a 900 MHZ AMD Duron with 512 Megs of ram. The new laptop arrives today and I check it out, Hmm, 2.4 GHZ, 2 Gigs of Ram, DVD Player/Writer, Docking station, new keyboard (give that to my friend in the next cube since I love my keyboard).

I unhook my test PC and hook my new laptop up and power it on. I logon successfully and load up a few pieces of software and then reboot. I can't logon again! It says I am locked out! I call a friend in Information Systems who begins laughing, it seems the Corporate Security group has locked things down so hard that people are getting locked out of accts on systems running Windows XP! They will have to pick up my new laptop and reload it to fix it!

Did I mention how I hate switching computers?
