Aside from all the other crap I may have posted so far on my miserable existance at this job, now today we have just been told that Instant Messenger is being abused and no IM'ing should be taking place. This came from the same horse that doesn't even know how to turn her volume down and so I hear the IM beep all day (in between her laughing). Not to mention in a meeting about a month ago she "strongly suggests we keep everyone involved in our work, and IM converstations are a great way to do this". I just wish Microsoft Instant Message kept a record someplace so we could all pull our conversations up to prove they have all been work related, and not that often!

aren't you the same one who said you're not allowed to "converse" either? Red...run for the hills! You gotta get out of that nazi party! they don't want you talking to each other for the same reason they isolate prisioners and slaves that they don't want to riot. If you can't talk to each other you can't "organize". Know what I mean?

Hey Red...remember Sametime? It used to keep records in a folder called chat transcripts and used a save as. If I remember correctly from home Microsoft IM did the same thing. I agree though with Corp...you need to get out of there.

It is so strange because sometimes I feel like I'm in the twilight zone. At a glance it all seems normal and nice here, that is certainly what I thought at my interview and for the first 3 months of employment. Then we dropped a 7 figure vendor contract because the vendor made some huge mistakes…ever since, because the work we were all hired to do no longer exist, the environment has taken a complete change for the worse! They are scrambling to make us all seem busy, when in reality we won’t be in full swing again until after we secure another contract with a new vendor. To put things in perspective…the first contract took 2 years of research. We are again on the ground floor and don’t anticipate a signing with the new vendor for at least another 18 months. So I think you are right that they don’t want us talking. The other theory on the floor is that they are trying to make our environment so unbearable that we all end up leaving on our own terms – hence no law suit cases for false hiring? I have no idea!

Most IM programs have a feature where you can save your conversation as a text file for later. I don't use Microsoft IM, but they must have one too.
