The things I do for money...Oy....

Hey everyone, it's been a while. Ok, so for anyone who doesn't know (and I think that's all of you), my husband and I do martial arts. Well, a friend of ours who is a teacher at a local middle school wanted us to do a demonstration for his kids in his classes. No sweat. I've done this for a while... besides, we're getting paid to do this (my excuse for posting this story ^_^)! So, we do our demonstration, and then it gets to the part where we break boards. I had noticed that some of them were warped and curved. Err....
So, Hubby holds a board for me, and I break it on the first try. Woo-hoo! It broke! The next class comes, and same thing, except this time it won't break. At ALL. I look at it and notice it's curved. Great. So, before I break my open hand trying to palm this thing, I try using a hammer fist on it, and I try like three times. ow. Ow. OW. We finally give up on it and let one of our guys break it over his head...
By the time the day is done, I'm all bruises all over my good hand and arm, all for a gaggle of noisy sixth graders! They're ugly and they hurt! I haven't been able to type for a day or so...Waaaaahhh!!!! What really sucks is that now I have to wear long sleeves or people will think my husband hits me! I hope you're reading, hubby, cuz I did this for you!....and cuz they were paying.....
What's really crazy is I wish I could do this as a career instead of a side job....there's no "Man" to damn...

Great story. Maybe someday you can do it full-time? Open a studio? I am all about having dreams and going for them!

It would be really cool, but I need to go and get my black belt (I'm sooo close!). However, I really loved teaching karate when I did teach it. It's just very rewarding to see that "Aha" come across people's faces when you help them understand a concept. I do have friends that dream of opening a school...anything's possible ^_^.
