I can't stand the people at my work! The place is just a constant battlefield for folks looking to place blame. People are constantly teaming up against one and other. Something goes wrong, you can bet fingers will be pointed. Got a big project going live? You can bet half the folks will disappear on vacation so they won't be around "if" anything goes wrong. They feel if they are out of sight, they are out of blames way.
The place is full of so many old-timers that have mastered the art and craft of protecting their hides that you can't anything done in a reasonable amount of time.
The good thing about it all is that I have so far resisted the temptation to play the same games. Hopefully a new opportunity will come up outside this company and then it will be on to better things!

Unfortunately, it seems to be that way everywhere now. In our office it's not finger pointing, it's rumour spreading and a proliferation of lies and busybodies.

Aren't you amazed how pressure makes some people act like second graders? Yeah, Twizzler, you are working with some children disguised as adults. Maybe they can make weird body noises at break too...

Cnubelieveit, I'm in the same boat. At my office, the only way some make themselves look wonderful is by completely degrading someone else to the boss or anyone else who they think can help them with their careers. (Our office is a small one, without any real ladder to climb, advancement is non-existent, so it really doesn't make any sense why they are acting like this.) It's sad and pathetic. I feel like asking: What, you didn't get enough love as a kid or something?

sounds like some people are taking the CYA (cover your ass) approach. =(
