When I was 17, I worked as a vet assistant in Chicago. One day I was told to retrieve a cat from one of the cages in back and bring her up for the owner. This cat was in for a routine surgery and was still waking up from the anesthetic. Or so I thought. What appeared to be a routine task turned into a nightmare when I reached into the cage and attempted to pick the cat up. I must have startled her cause she freaked out and attacked me. The cat clamped down on my hand and drew blood. After being bit and scratched several times, my co-worker came in to help. As soon as he opened the door the cat bolted out before either of us could react. Well as luck would have it the animal hospital was being remodeled at the time so parts of the building were under construction. This cat immediately runs to the construction area and jumps from place to place and hides always just out our reach. Finally the cat runs to another area and we cannot find her. This cat is gone. We have no idea where she is. The Vet informs us that the owner of this cat is a lawyer and he is getting impatient. After several hours and still no cat the vet informed the owner. Ten days pass. I come into work on a sunday morning and lo and behold there is the cat. just sitting there skinny, and dirty from being inside a wall I guess. So I Pick the cat up and it freaks out again! It did bite me again but this time I managed to throw it into a cage and lock the door. Thank God. And I still have two scars on my left hand from this cat.

Shame on the cheap vet for not training you and not furnishing gloves. Some vets make a good living and buy yachts for heaven's sake.
