Feels like Jail...

I've never been in jail, but I very much imagine it being just like work. Trapped in a 4x4 cube (cell) for 9 hour straight, just wanting to go outside but can't...slaving to someone else's demands! Uhhhh, the agony!

ID swipey cards with pictures on lanyards. I used to work for a GE affilliate that would write you up if you were not wearing it around your neck, even if you were already in the security area and did not plan to leave for a while. Their rationale for "lojacking" everyone? HR needed to know at all times "who works here and who doesn't". Feh.

Yeah, I just love the 10 or 12 of us standing in line to swipe our badge at a 2X2 strip on the security desk. You would think they would have more of them. And again, so they know who is in the building and who isn't.

Yeah, and if you want to quit, they chain you to your desk, because you're considered a flight risk.

Here we have a Work Tracker system. Need I mention that it sure ain't the work thats gettin' tracked...it's us and it frankly stinks!!!! At weekly meetings, they keep telling us..honest..we're not using this as a device to check up on people. Oh really??? How stupid do you think I am anyway. Grrrrr TGIF!!!!

You know, It's funny you mention that. Look what turned up in my inbox today! IN PRISON...you spend the majority of your time in an 8X10 cell. AT WORK....you spend most of your time in a 6X8 cubicle. - - - - - - - - - - - - IN PRISON...you get three meals a day (free). AT WORK.....you only get a break for one meal and you have to pay for it yourself. - - - - - - - - - - - - IN PRISON...you get time off for good behavior. AT WORK.....you get rewarded for good behavior with more WORK. - - - - - - - - - - - - IN PRISON...a guard locks and unlocks the doors for you. AT WORK.....you must carry around a security card and unlock open all the doors yourself. - - - - - - - - - - - - IN PRISON... you can watch TV and play games. AT WORK.....you get fired for watching TV and playing games. - - - - - - - - - - - - IN PRISON...you get your own toilet. AT WORK.....you have to share. - - - - - - - - - - - - IN PRISON...they allow your family and friends to visit. AT WORK.....you can not even speak to your family and friends. - - - - - - - - - - - - IN PRISON...all expenses are paid by taxpayers with no work at all. AT WORK.....you get to pay all the expenses to go to work and then they deduct taxes from your salary to pay for the prisoners. - - - - - - - - - - - - IN PRISON...you spend most of your life looking through the bars from the inside wanting to get out. AT WORK.....you spend most of your time wanting to get out and go inside bars. - - - - - - - - - - - -

The irony is that at my work we have to log into "112" for unscheduled breaks. Nah, not gonna let 'em time my potty breaks.

Yeah, I'm waiting for the day the corporate world mandates we wear tethers on our ankles so they can track us at all times during the day. Bzzzzz (ankle shakes and voice comes from strap) "Bill could you come to my office for a moment - you've been in the bathroom far too long"
