I suggest each of you buy something nice for yourself... it will remind you why you slave away everyday! I bought myself something and it reminds me that my job does have a purpose!

Great Idea! If you get no kudos from the boss, give one to yourself! Genius.

At the end of hard day I buy myself a nice meal combo from White Castle! The great thing about white castle is that it doesn't matter what time of day or night you get there...it always is open and it always tastes perfect. When I get my sliders I can say "boss schmoss!!!"

Thanks for the idea: but you guys made me hungry. So I went right out and got a sinfully rich concoction from a coffee place that touts a social conscience. Just a tiny spurge and my entire day is looking far better.

What a nice idea. I splurge a little every payperiod (new lipstick, getting the Jeep detailed, dinner at a fancy french place by my house) just to balance out all the "financial responsibility". :)

I am the same way. I buy something small like my favorite food or a big starbuck's or a new cd. Something that I can feel like I splureged without taking a financial hit.

A buddy of mine dropped 40 grand on a car one night after he got PASSED OVER for a promotion. I could understand if you got a raise or promotion but... I think he did it to make himself feel like he was at the status level he dreamed of. I feel kinda sory for him.

That guy took a hit to his ego that was so hard he needed to bounce back with a new car? What a chump. Now he has more debt but NOT the promotion to go with it. Get ahold of yourself, man!

Thanks everyone who wrote on this. I was praying, doing breathing exercises and everything I could think of to hang on and you just really made my day.
