See now this is why I love this site. I found this article linked on here, but it's kind of buried down below so I thought I would call attention to it because I loved it so much. I think every single one of us should read this article as we start the new year. It is for all of us who know we belong somewhere else but we can't bring ourselves to do it...or justify doing it. It is for everyone who is under the impression that they are defined by their work or who thinks we have to work work work to be able to be respected or admired or do "right" as a member of American society. It is for everyone who has ever wondered if sitting in a cube all day is "all there is".

good article. thanks for posting. This is exactly what I think about American culture. An indeed, it is time for a much needed change before we become the next Roma. But how...? There are many other countries we could take cues from... do we need to wait until we have a leader to guide us? It'll be a long wait, if that's the case. Grass Roots? Or will things take a natural shift and run their course...? Am I the only one who thinks this way?

When I was a MUCH younger man, I was single with no ties and I worked for at a job I liked and thought that job was my life. I worked there from 7:00AM to 10:00PM Monday - Thursday and from 7:00AM - 4:00PM On Friday. I also worked Sunday Evenings from 6:00PM - 10:00PM..and I did this for 3 years. I admit to having a swelled sense of self-importance and when I finally left that job, I visited back after 6 months and was surprised to find they were still running just fine! I learned a VERY important lesson in humility and on setting my priorities and feel fortunate I learned that lesson early on.

Siggy, I read on here before that you left a job to start a business or something (I can't find the post right now) which I am assuming is why you posted the article. Advice?
