Slamming my partner, who more than deserves it!

My partner at work has started playing a devilish game. The object is, is to confuse situations and try to make me look bad. I am very aware of her game and always manage to twist them around on her, though.

First of all, she is the one that taught me my job. She had to train me. Slowly, during the course of this year, she has changed the way that she taught me to do things, unbeknownst to me, of course, and then turned her ugly head my direction and said, "No, it's supposed to be done this way."

When I started organizing things in alphabetical order, she made the point of telling me -- and has said this on numberous occasions -- that she started doing that, that it takes no extra time to put things in alphabetical order. I felt like smacking her, since I was the one that started it -- and we both know it.

Well, anyway, we had to put in for our holiday schedule. We work for a small company, so we only get two days around either one of the holidays -- Thanksgiving or Christmas. Weeks ago, we talked about which holidays we were going to take. She told me that she would take Christmas.

Lo and behold, today the holiday schedules were given out, and she told the admin. assistant that she was going to take Thanksgiving. She tried to get me to make a scene, basically. I didn't give her the satisfaction. Later, when we were alone in the room, she mumbled, "Cry."

I walked over to the admin. assistant later on and said, "I am so glad that you gave those lists out. She had me believing that I had Thanksgiving off."

This woman I work with is so unpredictable, cutthroat, and at times, goes back on her words. I seriously think she's on drugs or something.

At times, in the mornings (and she's hardly in on-time), I swear she is too lazy to even comb her hair. She comes in with it all in little grossed out spikes all over her head. She thinks it's cool, I guess. It's pretty horrid looking.

Today, while waiting for her pages on the computer to turn, she sat and made little paper boats. They are now all over her computer. She has two or three different telephone rings that go off all day long. She slurps -- not drinks -- slurps her water through a straw in a big bottle. She has this watch that goes off every hour. She sits at her computer with these huge headphones on -- it almost looks like a beetle sitting there. She stops work when she feels like it and doodles on scraps of paper. I've already caught her playing solitaire and/or games on the computer when she should be working. At least, now with the boats, everyone in the company can see how immature she is, too, as well as being the liar that I know her to be.

It stinks having to work with a monster as a partner.

Oh, yeah, and she uses big words when she talks, so we should all be impressed by her intellect. She also makes sure she gets a medical word in or two when she speaks to the boss.

Oh, geez, she's so fake. She's sad and mean. I'm not confused. She's just wrong.

Remind you of something?

Whoa. I had no idea... But really though, what makes you think this is the same type of person? Are you basing it on her appearance, just because she has spikey hair? I find it hard to believe that someone into dark magic would sit and make paper boats at work...that seems a little too whimsical if you ask me.

SouthernProgrammer(11/08/2005)
granularity - I'm not basing it on stereotype...the person I was referring to was clean cut but spoke many times about being involved with Wica and the BEHAVIOR is very similar. IE: Saying one thing and later saying something else totally different and acting as if YOU are the crazy one. All of this was done by the co-worker I know of... I may totally wrong, but the behavior is certainly similar.

SouthernProgrammer(11/08/2005)
BTW - If the co-worker is involved in WICCA, they really have no power other than to be annoying....and causing chaos....just like any other "bad" co-worker. Except the WICCAN believes it gives them some sort of control..

It sounds like your partner has suddenly has decided to get better treatment. Instead of going for a a better job, more education, et. al., she's doing the old game-I can goof off if I want to, I'm more important so I take whatever time off I want. The important word here is OFF-as in OFF putting to others, OFF task at her job and OFF her rocker! Get this witch off staff by documenting (with a camera if necessary) her paper boats and send her down the river!!

Interesting. Never knew about the whole WICCA side of things. There is a certain tactful way of saying things and certainly doing them sounds like she missed the day they were passing that out. That's why I try to work by the golden rule.

I don't know...this sounds a bit like jumping to conclusions on the personal practices of this individual. Lots of people act like that without being a witch!

>I don't know...this sounds a bit like jumping to conclusions on the personal practices of this individual. Lots of people act like that without being a witch! > You very well could be correct, I still say WTP should bring in a Bible and place it into a prominant place to see what happens. Just stating what happened at my place of employment...

Phew! This is the most controversial post since the racial one last month! Gotta love the diversity in these stories! But I'm still waiting for the "my coworker is an alien" story...hahahaha

Thanks. I'm going to try your Bible suggestion -- although, I do have a placque of "Footprints" on the window sill near my computer. As far as the Wicca thing goes, she might very well be a practicing witch. I've done some reading on Wicca through the years, myself, so I do have an understanding of what she's about, if it's that. I never thought about using it to cause confusion on the job front, though. It'll backfire on her. I guess the only thing that I can do is to put it in God's hands, keep records, and take her with a grain of salt. I will say this about me, though, somebody out there is watching over me -- call it God, call it angels, call it karma, call it my deceased father or relatives looking out for me, whatever. Somehow, someway, things always flip themselves around on the person or the people who launch unprovoked attacks on me. I've also prayed to God for this, by the way. It's nice to know that cosmically, I'm being looked after! :)

You can also display the likeness of a snake or other symbols. One will work, you may have to try a few. A little toy plastic snake worked for me./ You can also have fun by confusing her. Start by keeping your vacation time very flexible and apply for every possible special day. She can't hog them all. Act as if a particular day is very important and have her jump with glee, then take the vacation time you really need or want. Or don't tell her and take a sick day.

WTP - I suddenly remembered (this is NO joke everyone) that over a decade ago there was worker similar to that in another department. This person was a practicing Warlock (member of WICA) who did insane things like that in order to cause chaos and "feed" off of the energy. It took a long time but this person was eventually let go. These people can be dangerous... If you aren't saved, you need to get saved in order to be protected. If you are saved, bring in your Bible and display it to see what your nutty co-worker does. If she comments on it or claims it makes her nervous and wants it removed...you have your answer!
